for

Eddy Curry
Jared Jeffries
#8 Pick

Why: A salary dump for ny to make any 2010 pipe dreams at least somewhat feasible. You get Curry who could still prove to be a good player. If he returns to form of two years you get a steal with this deal and would have two of the top 5 low post scorers in the nba. Jared jeffries may be over paid but he is not as bad as some claim. He is still a quality bench player who can contribute alot particularly for a playoff team. And then the # 8 pick allows you to draft another young talent or to package it for a higher pick (#2??) or quality guard..(Rip Hamilton??). I think this trade helps both teams. To be honest as a knick fan i wouldnt jump all over this but after contemplating it i think it makes both teams head in the right direction.

Even if Curry improves, he can't play with Jefferson down low, not enough room. And that contract is terrible, not worth it for the 8th pick.

Personally I'd probably consider cards for jefferies + 8

Yeah, I might be able to handle that. We could get a couple of strong prospects with the 6 and 8, and I guess I could stomach Jeffries for that.

I'd rather try to get the 5 from the bullets, though.

I'd consider that or possibly Cardinal and Smith/Madsen for Curry and #8. Miller has more value as a quality player + expiring to just use in a salary dump for NY.

I was about to compliment you on a decent trade and politely decline adding one of those 2010 salaries, when I realized that you tried to dump BOTH 2010 salaries for a #8 pick. You're asking for a team to add $20 mil in salary in 2010 with the pick (and for MIN, that salary is raw cap space!), and include the best player in the deal - Mike Miller - for the lousy #8 pick?

This is a really, really bad trade.

Probably a more realistic way to look at this is what would NY have to give up to move up 2 spots and pick at #6. It sounds like they are really high on Curry yet are nervous someone might get him before #8. What do you think about #6 + #28 this year for #8 + NY's 1st round pick in 2010?

Utah owns the knicks 2010 pick. And i personally dont want stephen curry. I wouldnt be to upset but there are several players i would prefer. If you think about this trade it could be the revival of the franchise. The knicks want lebron or another marquee free agent in 2010. It's obvious why they do this. Minnesota is not going to be in contention for players of this caliber in 2010. This gives you another high pick to add young talent. If you draft derozan and then Evans you could have the Point/Shooting guard and small forward of the future to go along with Jefferson. In 2 years you could potnetially have Larry Hughes(Washington days) and vince Carter to go along with jefferson. This is a risky move but if it pans out the timberwolves will be championship contenders. If it doesnt work out you dont really lose anything. Curry and Jeffries can then be used as expirings to acquire the right pieces. They could be traded to a team looking to acquire a player like Carmelo Anthony or Derrick Rose in free agency or you can let them expire and sign one of these players yourselves. Lets say Evans and derozan live up to the potential. Imagine a team of Rose-Evans-Derozan-Jefferson. That would be an extremely athletic and dangerous team. Even if they are both busts the timberwolves dont lose anything in the long run. On the other hand this is a risky deal for NY. Curry still has the potential to be very good and we could essentially be trading you an allstar for 10 more years in evans/derozan for mike miller. I think this trade really helps both teams to accomplish the goals they have for the future.

Galinari? I just think its hard to match up salaries unless we give them a TPE, though it looks like they may want the TPE to slip under the lux.

You sold me...if you can guarantee me this deal nets me Derrick Rose than I will consider it.

Otherwise this isn't even remotely close. You have yet to justify why MIN would want Curry and Jeffries contracts for the next 2 years, essentially shutting out any attempt at free agents the next two years? Or why you get 2 of the top 3 assets in the deal. (Cardinal, Miller)?

Bottom line is the knicks dont have the assets to move those two guys without overpaying for it, unless they want to trade gallinari, chandler or possibly S&T with robinson.

This is the Knicks opportunity to give what ever it takes to get rid of those two guys. I wouldnt want them both but I would take one of them if I could get #8+one of the 3 listed above plus send them telfair. Probably unrealistic but I think those would be the deals the knicks would need to make if they wanted to rid themselves of those contracts. They gut their team, sign two max free agents, and try a Boston Celtics approach at winning a championship.

Someone smarter than myself could probably work out the details of a trade with NY, or maybe 3 team trade is the answer.

I don't think the Wolves would do it. I would rather try to trade Miller for the 5th pick.
