Bobcats War Room- Pick 20- 2009

Post#1 » by August Us Seazr » Wed Jun 3, 2009 2:26 pm

We have at last a player to play every position. At # 19, we have placed Austin Daye into our Big Board rotation. Now, to look forward and complete our top 20.

Every day a new name is added to our nine. With the last vote, the new name did not get stale. Will we have a period where the stale names get a little staler? We will see......

And a little reminder to those who REALLY like someone not on the list yet. None of the Above is your chance to name a player that has not yet bubbled up to the surface. If you really think someone has risen above the names we have here, don't be shy about a write-in. I promise, nothing bad will happen because you write in a vote here. Just don't walk under ladders without looking up!

So, lets get on with bidness! And voteness. Claw on!

This selection is NOT dedicated to my friend Will, who claimed he would stop following the 'Cats entirely if this pick was made... but I gotta go Hansbrough here.

Hear me out (well, read)... He tested above average as far as athleticism is concerned and measured 6'9" with an 8'10" standing reach (better than Griffin's). Kid dominated college hoops for 4 years, has an excellent motor and will adapt his game to do what he has to do to win. From a marketing perspective, he makes up for May and Ammo immediately. Knowing what I learned yesterday about his combine results, I probably would've voted for him sooner, but at 20 I think he's an excellent pick.

I haven't contributed for a while, but I'll fess up to being the one repeatedly voting for BJ Mullens. Especially after seeing his measurements (he's f'ing huge) I think he has the highest upside of the players remaining. I think Hansbrough ends up as a bench player, and while BJ probably amounts to nothing, I'd rather roll the dice. Arguments could have been made in previous threads for Daye or whoever, but at this stage I take the only upside left.

I'm glad you admitted it.

Sorry, but if Charlotte drafts Hansbrough anywhere outside of the 2nd round, a rather substantial population will cry conspiracy and riot, err blog angrily. I went for the forward that actually is athletic, Gani Lawal.

Hansbrough tested and measured nearly identical to Lawal. He actually did better in the speed tests... Lawal had a 2.5 inch no-step vert, but besides that there's no significant differences.

I'm with Paydro - at this late first round Mullens is more than ok, not exactly a big need, but hardly a bust at No.20 and probably a tradeable asset too (I know this for who we would pick to keep and I voted accordingly, still Mullens)

Guys this is not a second track - this is who we would want not who we think Utah will pick - no need for Hansbrough then :)

true but he's younger and has less body fat. Honestly, anybody want anything even remotely resembling Sean May at this point>

# 50 it is. Welcome to the big board, Tyler Hansbrough!

And with that, we move on to the 21st selection.
