Realizing it is a slow time of year, thought this might be of some interest to your board.

Sidelined from the NBA post-season by another foot injury, Houston Rockets’ center Yao Ming hasn’t been sitting by idle.

He’s adding his voice to Chinese animated film, “The Magic Aster,” based on a traditional fairy tale, the China Daily reports. Yao voices the character of the heroine’s father in the film, which opens in China on June 19.

The film was jointly produced by Shanghai Film Group, Shanghai Animation Film Studio and Xiamen Shangcheng Science and Technology Co. as part of the celebrations of the PRC’s 60th birthday. As with many of Hollywood’s animated hits, the cast includes top stars from the movie business: Taiwan supermodel-actress Lin Chi-ling and Hong Kong actor-singer Leon Lai dub other leading characters in “The Magic Aster.” Yao was invited to take part by one of the charities he’s involved with, the Shanghai Special-care Foundation, which will also receive a portion of the film’s box office proceeds.
