the problem with saying youll have no money for free agents is no one wants to sign with you. Your team isnt very good right now and its not a desireable city or state.

I sure wish this here was a big ol' city so stars like Jared Jefferies and Randolph Morris would sign here.

To paraphrase john2jer:

You know this is a terrible trade idea when your best defense for it is "No free agents will sign in your city, so you have to take our trash."

Any center that we put out on the floor this season, whether players who are on our team already, prospects we draft, or free agents we sign with the MLE will be much better than Curry and won't cost as much.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

As I told you on the NYK thread, even if you were right, cap space doesn't have to be used for free agency, and is a very valuable trade commodity.

Moreover, even if it wasn't, paying $20 mil in cash for the #8 pick is completely ridiculous.

The number 8 pick and two contracts that will be extremely helpful post 2010.

These two quotes made me smile like a father who just watched his son hit his first homerun in little league. :-)

It's a shame Rev won't let me call a spade a spade. :-( These New York trade offers are horrible.

Good point, and I ask this because I don't know the answer, but...

Who was the last big star to sign in New York as a free agent?

Chris Duhon. He's like SID 6.7 from the film Virtuosity. Except instead of serial killers, he's an amalgam of Stockton, Magic, Kidd, Paul, Jordan, West, really all of the great guards to play the game.

Chris Duhon will some day have a wing in the Hall of Fame named after him. Was he still starting for New York at the end of the season?

More helpful than RAW CAP SPACE?

C'mon -- you can't be serious here. If you really believe this is a good trade, toss it up on the trade board.

They'll eat you alive for an offer like this.

Some of his own New York buddies ate this garbage alive.
