At least we're bringing our A material to the pitching mound in this one....

If we took 2 out of 3 I'd be ecstatic.

Hell, we've got a good chance to take all three. But let's hope it starts on a good note with Verlander tonight.

The Angels took care of us pretty good the last time we met, so I'll be hoping for 2 out of 3. I'm not sure how realistic anything better than that is.

This is what happens when you overrate small ball. Now we can't hit anything out of the park. We have no sluggers aside from Cabrera, Granderson and Inge (who hasn't hit one in like 60-70 ABs).

I don't think our offensive slumps have anything to do with small ball. Our "big guys", Guillen, Maggz, Thames, Polanco have been subpar this season. Sure Cabrera has been streaky, started off hot, but cooled down considerably and is now hurt with a hamstring injury. Now we have to rely on Curtis and Brandon to be our big playmakers when they really aren't. Alot of times, our small ball has been the only way we've scored runs.

Now, word is that Guillen and Thames aren't close to being ready. Maggz is starting to find his stroke but hasn't looked like himself since 2007. Polanco has gotten on base, but he's never been a "slugger". These are our oldest and highest paid players, and they aren't getting it done. Maybe Pudge, Renteria and Sheff weren't the only ones that should have been shown the door.

Despite the loss in the first game, we've seen to outstanding pitching performances, two pluses and two reasons for me to continue to believe we could contend till the end.

I don't think it does either, in we've gotten a lot more production from our "little" guys rather then our stars like Maggglio, Polanco, Guillen, etc, that shouldn't last the whole season. Once everyone is clicking on all cylinders we should really be a tough win for every team, as long as our pitching doesn't blow up.
