Hoopswood backpeddles......

The Tail Wagging The Dog: Let's get in front of some of these "rumors" – there is little doubt that a lot more speculation is occurring in the media and it's likely a result of more and more desire to generate "buzz" and Pageviews than genuine viable information.

John Gambadoro of KTAR in Phoenix has been spending a lot time on his radio show recently playing the "what if game…" and some people are buying into it. Nothing against John, who has a great radio show which I enjoy a lot. But the facts are not being used in his discussions, he's simply tossing out ideas and fans are interacting with them.

Somehow that becomes "Boston is considering trading Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo for Amar'e Stoudemire"

That's simply not true.

Is Boston considering ways to improve their roster? Absolutely.

Is Ray Allen likely the best trade chip Boston can cash to keep Glen "Big Baby" Davis and add the two additional pieces Doc Rivers says he needs? Likely.

Is Rajon Rondo available? Not a chance.

Would Phoenix like to cash out one of their stars to get better? Yes. Yes twice.

As we covered in this space yesterday, Amar'e Stoudemire has almost no trade value. The remaining two years and $33 million with a damaged eye make him almost worthless unless Phoenix takes on less talent or worse contracts.

If the Suns traded Amar'e now, they get nothing close to his value and it would be selling extremely low. The Suns have got to wait out his recovery, get him on the floor and prove there are no side effects and that's going to take time.

League sources close to Amar'e say he could be cleared to resume athletic activity in the coming weeks and that will help in moving things along and help determine if he's going to have complications.
But let's be real for a minute – There are going to be lots of hair brained "what if's" this summer, keep in mind there is a lot of "Tail Wagging The Dog" stuff going on and most of it is not based on information rather speculation.

Keep listening to John's show if you are in Phoenix, and tell him HOOPSWORLD says Hi!

Not to point to the pink elephant in the room but those downplaying the possibility of this based on Amare's injury. An eye injury that is healing as expected and isn't expected to have much of an impact besides Amare needing to get his ass in shape which has never really been a question in the past. That compared to the train load of evidence that says Amare has to go.

I have to say I ordinarily fall on the 95% garbage 5% truth concept with trade rumors, and I would say there is about a 5% chance the Celtics trade either Rondo or Ray Allen never mind both. But I find all the effort to discredit this without simply saying there is nothing to it a bit odd.

Not to mention it is a duplicate trade in the manner of Ratliff and Al Jefferon. One big expiring contract with one good solid young up and comer for an established allstar big. This has Dannys MO all over it. Plus no big secret that Phoenix needs money and has sold off multiple assets in the past.
