Channing Frye

Do you guys think that Frye could play center for us? Portland seems to think that their Front Office will just let him walk.

Ever since Frye had his injury his rookie season, he hasn't been the same. At this point, he'll prolly won't be tendered by POR for cap room. I wouldn't mind seeing him as a #5 big for us, but I wouldn't want him in the regular rotation.

Like all has said it depends on the price. IMO, he is not a true C and is not a big body.

Personally I think Ryan Hollins, Aaron Gray, and Johan Petro all provide more as bargain C's than Frye. Frye has some offensive skills, but from what I've seen rebounding and defense would be almost zip from him.

Channing Frye doesn't do much for me, but it depends on his price, and we should only consider signing him if we actually plan on having him come off our bench. He can play the 4 and 5. I hope he's working on his conditioning this off-season and hitting the weights. I do question his heart and effort.

Maybe he can be like Jermaine O'Neal when he left Portland.

I would definitely not get excited about Frye. There will be a few games where he hits a few jumpers, but never has been a strong rebounder or defender. Funny interview though.

He should definitely take basketball more seriously and put the Wii away.

Another 6'10'' guy who loves the perimeter. He was never a C and never will be. I wouldn't even consider him to replace S. Jones.

From a Portland fan, Frye is hard to figure out.

He has streaks where it seems like he can't miss. And then times where he can't hit a shot to save his life. At times he'll play like a true big and grab rebounds. Other times all he'll do is shoot jumpers.

He's a good guy to have around in the locker room and for an extra big. Given consistent minutes, he will produce. There are just guys who produce better than him most of the time. Injuries are concern from him. He finished last season strong, but then was injured to start this season and never really got into any kind of groove.

For a cheap signing and big man insurance he's a good pick up, but I wouldn't count on him being a game changer.

the words frye and post would never be put together. he lives in the mid-range and rarely looks to play in the post. he isn't a good defender either. i would look away from him.

He seems like one of those guys who just needs to get his confidence back. I'm not saying he'll ever be that great of big man and justify being a lottery pick. But he could still be someone worth keeping in the rotation.

I am just interested in Frye as a big man off the bench, I think he would be better than Solo and Morris.
