celtics even your non-frontrunner self can't think of a realistic trade that will make the Celtics better where we trade Pierce.
Hell the most logical thing would even just be to let Pierce expire then not sign him.
Young player does not equal future good players.
If any..Is there a market for Paul Pierce??

If we're talking about players at the same position and close in age. I'll say, Caron Bulter or Josh Howard. Both are twenty-nine. Not that either of those teams would trade those players. I'm just saying these two players would come the closest to Pierce's value. Especially, Butler... Still, only a contending team would want to acquire Pierce. Boston's a contending team, so there's no need for Boston or Pierce to part ways.

Re: Garnett/Mchale
Yeah, Ainge thought Red should trade Mchale. However, he's also commented that he saw Mchale's career tail off in large part because he played through injuries to 'win now' when the team lacked anyone to step up in his place.
I've read in a couple different places that in the late 80s early 90s the Celtics were offered the following trades:
Kevin Mchale for Karl Malone
Dee Brown for Gary Payton (following their good and disappointing rookie seasons)
It's just hard to know in advance that Karl Malone and Gary Payton will end up being so good so consistently for so long - and you absolutely don't want to be the team that trades Gary Payton for Dee Brown.

Oops. I'd miscounted the years. They're both twenty-nine. Thirty sounded wrong when I wrote it.
