Would you be open to dealing #6 for....
Rudy Gay or Jeff Green?
I want a top of the draft type young talent but my issue is that i'm not really sold on the idea that Evans or DeRozan will prove to be better then Foye at least not anytime soon. I think Foye is quite capable of being a 17/19 PPG, 4/5 APG, 3/4 RPG starting SG on 45/40/85% shooting numbers if he were able to play next to a quality PG.
I don't think we'll be seeing anything like that from DeRozan or Evans with efficency before they near the end of their rookie contracts and beyond that I question if either of them will have NBA three point range which is needed on a team with a franchise big like Al Jefferson.
I'm very high on Jrue Holiday being a difference making PG in a couple years but i'm also of the opinion that the Wolves can get Hinrich via trade and honestly he is good enough that I don't think they'd need to replace him in order to contend.
As i've said many times over the past week if you can get Hinrich for the 18th, Gomes, Telfair, Smith and Madsen i'm all for it. He fixes the biggest hole in the Wolves lineup and I personally don't think Hinrich is overpaid. I think he fits this roster better then he ever fit the Bulls roster and that he could be a 17/7/4 on 45/40/85% shooting guy who makes some all defensive teams.
I would take Jeff Green or Rudy Gay with that sixth pick in this draft without a second thought if they were in this draft so why not trade for them if possible? It would give the Wolves highly talented young SF's in either case that would be restricted free agents which means they don't have to worry about selling either of them on signing here over some place else.
Neither of them really fit next to the franchise players on their respective teams but either of them would be excellent fits here.
C Jefferson
PF Love
SF Gay or Green
SG Foye
PG Hinrich
What do you guys think?

I'd actually be more open to Gay just because the need for an athletic slasher is huge and they both can shoot the three even though Green does it better.

Gay is very athletic. Sure he can make some shots and score 15-20 per game. He just doesn't seem to do much to make his team better. Don't know why, maybe low basketball IQ, maybe selfishness. There was about a 4-5 minute stretch in one of the Wolves/Grizz games this year where PF/C Kevin Love guarded him and shut him down. If you're a super athletic SF and you've got a mismatch, you better be able to figure out a way to exploit it.

Gay wouldn't have even the slightest chance of being availible if he fit better next to Mayo.
This is a very talented young freakishly athletic SF who as with most young players struggles with consistency. When he is playing his best I don't think there is any question that he is the more talented of the two but they will build around Mayo because Chris Wallace is a pretty bad GM.

My knee jerk reaction was also yes for Green, not for Gay, but then I thought about it and realized that I was comparing Gay to Green too much. Yes, Green is better, but Gay is definitely also worth the pick, imo. I don't realistically see us drafting a better player than Rudy Gay with the 6th pick in this draft.

I see Rudy Gay as the better of these two options and as the better fit. I sure didn't expect to see anybody say yes to Green and no to Gay. I would like to hear why some of you would say yes to Green but no to Gay?

Either of them would be a massive win for the 6th. I think Green just showed more this season, while Gay didn't really improve.

I like that Green has two years left on his small contract where as I believe Gay is in line for a new one next year. Green wont affect 2010 cap space.
Not too mention, personally I want a tough physical team, and I see Green fitting that much better than Gay.

I think the league will block any attempt to put love and gay on the same team.
gay is a developing the rep of a selfish ballhog. he had the rep of not caring in college also. he might be doomed for a crawford like statistical but not winning career. otherwise the kid has all the tools you would want in a swing player.
green is someone I have seen a lot of with my hibbert crush. he reminds me of a better in shape billy owens. or perhaps a less flashy more consistent odom. either way moving him to the sf would be huge and would help the team

I think you can forget about using that 2010 cap space if they were to trade for either of these two guys since that impending cash would need to be set a side to keep either of them or the Wolves would be in luxuary tax land again.

I would be more then fine with that and for our pg situation, we could package the utah pick next year or pekovic and the #18 to move up for a point guard maybe jennings or flynn or even curry?

Why would OKC part with Green, though?

Green would be a horrific idea. He played mostly 4 with durant @ the 3. Can he play the 3 sure, but I think whatever guard we pull @6 is of way more benefit than a 3/4 or 4/3 at this point.

Replace Gay with Mayo and I'm good.
