Artest considering Europe as an option

Could be bad news.. And im sure proud greek owners would have a good shot at artest, though he doesn't fit into their team playstyle as good as other NBA players might..

I'm pretty sure this rumor has come up every year for Artest when he was with the Kings iirc. (well not every year but I heard of this rumor though a while back) I wouldn't put that much into it. I think this is the usual "Ron being Ron" situation. If not, I would be very surprise and it would be awesome to see Artest in Europe. (No offense Rockets fans haha)

Panathinaikos actually has offered Artest a 3 year $60 million contract plus a yacht.

Artest: "I'm on a boat!"

If he leaves at least he won't be going to a rival western conference team.

any chance we can sign Ben Gordon?
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Ron hates the water. Can't swim. He's cat-like, in that respect.

86 the yacht.

@Kingsfan:
You can look at it as "Ron being Ron," or you can look at it as if there is something legit to it, if its hung around for years.

20 mil a season?? Artest would be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) not to take that!!! Plus considering the dropping dollar (not sure what currency he's getting paid) and a Yacht....a shorter season (i think). And isn't Panathinaikos a great team? And to play in a league that he actually has a chance of winning a championship and isn't blatantly rigged?

Easy choice IMO.

If they had offered him that we would already be looking for a 'replacement'.. Ron would be on his yacht somewhere in Europe.

Playoffs were still going when the offer was made. I'm sure they have deadlines just like the NBA.

NBA fans just don't know anything about basketball unless it is NBA related. Panathinaikos makes offers like this every now and then. It almost never ever never makes it to any US press.

No, I know those European teams are ballin out of control. Aren't they going to give kobe/lebron 30/40 mil/season when their contracts run out? Idk man. If i had that luxury, I'd already have a few houses in europe. hahahha

Ron's not stupid. Agents know they can use that European contract as a bargaining chip. He's trying to see if somebody over here would pay something close to that. Hopefully Hou won't. =)

Oh god...it's this guy again?!?

In another thread he created, he claimed Vasilis Spanoulis being better than McGrady and egged everyone on for a few days. Total waste of time and I hope that thread was locked...

I'll give him one thing though, he provided some humor that day.

Though honestly, it doesn't take much to be better than T-mac nowadays....

I think I'd take V-Span in a pick-up game over T-Mac right now.

Ok... So they told Ron he would need to sign before his NBA season was over? Makes no sense at all. Some people just have no common sense.

Those Europeans are getting creative with their offers. The NBA better do the same if they don't want to lose all of their players to Europe.

Return to Houston Rockets
