I am not knocking Haslem as a starter but I think majority of people expected a player with that much talent would have played a more solid game and made his way to a starting job. The games I saw him in he seemed to not put in 100%, again I only saw 2-3 Heat games all season.

So why did Love play the same amount of minutes as Beasley? The Timberwolves were a lottery team with one starting caliber big man, and Love wasn't played more than 24 minutes a game - about the same amount of time as Beasley. As a general question, does anyone think if the two had been switched that the heat would have sat Haslem down and started Love and played him bigger minutes than the wolves played him? Also, would the wolves have played Beasley more/less/or the same amount of minutes as they played Love?

Its not that I expected Beasley to have better stats(which I did), its just the fact after watching him play, I don't think his ceiling is all that high. I mean, I see him being a guy who eventually stuffs the stat sheet in points and rebounds, but really doesn't impact the game all that much. Mayo may end up being the same way, but he at least showed more his rookie season.
Come on! Mayo is in a team where he doesn't have a competition in in his position, Miami has Haslem at PF and Beasley as a reserve. If ever these two players (Mayo & Beasley) in opposite places, I doubt Mayo gets the stats in his rookie year with Wade around. Another thing is, Miami is competing for a playoff spot to Memphis who's rebuilding. Just like I said, you can't compare his stats to other rookies because of the situation he's in Miami. I'm really convince Beasley stats are higher than what he has last season if he's in another lottery team wherein he doesn't have a competion in his position.

For the Timberwolves themselves my top 5 would be:

Rose
Lopez
Westbrook
Love
Mayo

I do not doubt that other teams would have a different board but this is based off our needs and what I got to see. Good post tvwolves. This is about how I feel. I agree with your Top Five, and I'm keeping an eye on Eric Gordon as well.

Hoops, as posters here know, I am with you on Mayo's numbers being inflated since he was Top Ten in the league in minutes. However, he impressed me more on the court than Beasley this year.

Two things make me laugh though. First, you make excuses how Udonis Haslem pinned Beasley to the bench .. to the team that had Al Jefferson in front of Kevin Love.

Second, saying, "If you don't agree with me that Beasley is great, you must secretly like him!" J2J has that right -- its elementary school justification, and you'll note I'm posting on the MIN board here .. who would I be trying to lie to? I think your homer glasses are blinding you if you think any Wolves fans would pick Beasley now over Brook Lopez at #2.

guys, from a miami point of view after one year, the choose is all about 3 guys : beasley, love or lopez...

rose, mayo, westbrook and gordon cant play with wade(mayo/gordon) or cant play that good with wade(rose/westbrook)

beasley still has more upside (between lopez and love),this is all about patient...

i know this is minnesota board and i apologize with you,i just want ask you guys a question : for you,if beasley the last year play with the timberwolves or with memphis or with oklahoma when if play bad or play good stay in the floor 32 or 35 minutes, you dont think we'll be all here with a different pint of view?
Eric is the play of the year right there baby!!! (T.Fiorentino)

It would be between Lopez and Westbrook for the pick but i'm not sure which one. I think Westbrook has more upside, but Lopez plays the more important position. I'm leaning towards Lopez.

Your reason is mute, Rose played on a good team and had a player, Hinrich, that would be a starter for over half the league playing behind him. Beasely in his first year was not able to crack the starting line-up. I am not saying he won't be great in the future and is not an asset but to be claiming he would be considered the consensus #2 is ludacrious. Personally a player like that should have shined in a situation where he can play off Wade, but in his first year it seemed he never took advantage.

To me Beasely looks like a Carmelo Anthony, great talent and will do some great things but upstairs its not all working and won't be working for a while, if ever. He really doesn't have to work hard to be good so someone or himself will have to light a fire under him to get him motivated to be a star.

I like the trade but thr value would have clearly been lopez as a prospect over love. lopez looked great last year. nut I wonder if our team held love back.

a good question might be what the trade package for randolph might have been.

beasley was not able crack the starting lineup because he never play defense in his life and miami coach is obsession with defense

YEA, its the coaches fault for asking a player of Beasley's caliber to play defense. Who do they think they are? Do they know who he is?

To me the reasons have already been brought up. He couldnt beat out a role player (albeit a solid one) for the starting job, was inconsistent all year and didnt earn 30+ minutes. Love was stuck behind probably the best low post scorer in the league and we were hesitant to play him at Center until our hand was forced seeing as we didnt have another big man for him to play alongside of.

Rose
Lopez
Westbrook
Love
Mayo

Beasley edges out Gordon. Augustin bringing up the rear.

One of the reasons why Lopez is so coveted is his defense. We are not only talking stats such as points, rebounds, and assist; it is also about defense and understanding of the game. It is no ones fault but Beasely for not getting in the starting lineup, but my order stays as is because its not on potential of 5 years from now it is from what I have seen so far from all the players.

As for your question, would Beasely #s go up, I would think so. His FG % would also go down because he would be taking worst shots then he already was with the Heat. I recall one of his biggest knocks is he would get comfortable just shooting jumpers and not penetrating the lanes.

Lastly, as you notice on my list of players Mayo is last on my list and he was the one with the highest potential to fill the stat sheet because of being the main focus for a bad team. So your idea that I would favor Beasely more if he would have been able to fill the stat sheet up is false.

Rose: High IQ, decent assist, penetrating scorer, solid D
Lopez: Size, high fg%, blocker, rebounder
Westbrook: Quickness, scorer, decent assist, great D
Love: High IQ, amazing rebounder, decent scorer, average defender, and OUTLET PASSES
Mayo: Scorer, great D

Beasely: Has not shown an amazing IQ, but not saying he has a horrible one. Good scorer. Horrible rebounder and defender.

Beasley had "wow' factor when there was a shot at him as a physical dominate SF. Not an undersized PF.

I still think if you put a functional p/r pg next to love his production goes up. Give him an athletic wing to throw the outlet pass to and his skill is used better as well. (how did he make Carney look)

Love/Carney was a good combination, but a lot of credit goes to Carney's ability to catch those passes running full speed and then convert them to baskets. Even in the NBA I don't think there are going to be many guys as good at that as him.

I'm a big bulls and Rose fan. But Rose does not have SOLID D. His D is really bad right now. I give him a pass because he was a rookie but he does not have solid D. See what Rondo did to him
