I want Jure Holiday. I could careless about draft Ricky especially if we have to trade to get him.

Even his agent has backed off of his original claims about the Grizzlies and that Rubio is amenable to workout for teams selecting 2-4. Furthermore, the Grizzlies do have interest in Ricky according to the local Grizzlies beat writer Ron Tillery.

This was back on 5/25/09.

"On Monday night, Wallace, Hollins and Griz center Marc Gasol met Rubio and his father in Barcelona. The group was together for about 90 minutes, and it says a lot that fellow Spaniard, Marc Gasol, took time out to help represent the Grizzlies."

General manager Chris Wallace and head coach Lionel Hollins had a "productive" exchange with Rubio. They shared their vision of Memphis and the franchise. Rubio spent some time selling himself as well. And then there was Marc Gasol on hand to fill in the blanks.

It appears that most teams expect to get the #2 pick/Rubio for little to nothing. It seems the Grizzlies would be best served to select Rubio and sign a starting PF with all the cap space they have available.

Well today's Chad Ford had a blurb that they stated they'll interview with the Clippers, Thunder and Kings and are purposefully skipping Memphis.

^^^ As stated above, Rubio already met/interviewed with the Grizzlies brass in Spain back in May; therefore, there is no reason for another formal interview. The Clippers, Thunder, and Kings have yet to interview him.

bringing in mark gasol to fill in the blanks just made me laugh...had to bring him in to "convincE" him?

had to bring the guy in... thats 1 spaniard vs 2.. pau and navarro.

seriously though. wallace bing in spain doesnt mean he had an interview with rubio... you dont just walk up to a guy and say hey let me interview you.. you have to formally pencil it in... again we dont know what actually happened... it could have been just a hi and hello how are you meeting

Read the latest bizarre happenings on the Ricky Rubio saga. It just keeps getting more complicated.

Scroll down to see my previous response to you saying this before. And you don't go over to Spain and have a meeting with the kid and father if you're not trying to smooth things over like you're trying to say isn't happening.

Smills91 wrote:Are direct quotes from Fegan and Rubio not good enough? I mean Rubio out of his own MOUTH said, that the 'Grizzles have the 2nd pick, but that doesn't mean much'. You don't say that to a future employer, I don't care who you are. Rubio's not playing Memphis buddy, that I can guarantee you.

And as I said before, that's a general statement that can't be taken one way or the other. You're trying too hard to make that more than what it is. Until he does like Steve Francis, it's all moot as to him not coming here. And you apparently forgot what I said before.

Third sentence.

And even still you are ignoring what Fegan has implied what really seems to be the issue. And market

That showed Ford's lack of credibility. Pau ENDORSED Memphis to Marc and Marc could have easily stayed in Spain if he wanted. Navarro obviously left due to Pau leaving and a much bigger contract offer elsewhere. And what part of they had a 90-min talk with Ricky and his father constitutes as nothing happening.

Ford has been a source of conflict with Memphis and fans for awhile due to the things he says. Check this out from back in January:

Mike (Memphis): Chad, The way that pilot landed the plane in the Hudson was phenomenal. If you and Bill Simmons were ever on a plane together in the same situation, I would hope that your pilot would have the same ability to land the plane...right into the middle of an active volcano.

Chad Ford: Ummmm... I don't even know how to answer this. You know, we're just sports writers. If you don't like us, don't read us. Wishing death upon us seems a little much Mike.

All my info is NOT coming from Chad Ford. I don't read ESPN very often.

I seriously have maintained that JT/#4was not enough to give up Rubio.

And when did I say that about you? I think the response was to someone else.

Kings would be better off drafting Jrue Holiday or Tyreke Evans rather than bowing down to the Grizzlies or Thunder.
