YANKS SAWX Round 3

Post#1 » by HCYanks » Tue Jun 9, 2009 5:13 pm

Last time on this program the Yankees were looking kinda mediocre and got their salad tossed by the Red Sox. But since then the team has seemingly hit it's stride and historically the Yankees fare a lot better in the season series once they're out of April so we'll see.

6/9: Beckett v Burnett
6/10: Wakefield v the Wanger
6/11: Penny v Sabathia

Beckett seems to have calmed down as of late, which puts game 1 in Boston's favor. Still, if Bad Josh Beckett magically reappears and/or A.J. throws together one of his "lives up to his stuff" outings, then there's a chance. Game 2 could end up in so many different directions that it's hard to say what will happen, though the Sox may again have the advantage because Wang's such an unknown quantity at the moment. If the Yankees somehow manage to lose game 3, Pharmcat will spend the next week wandering Manhattan in a hysterical daze, asking people where the heart has gone.

2 out of 3 seems attainable. Let's hope for that.

this figures. Fat arse ortiz, that steroid taking, fake birth certificate having , .197 batting average fool can't hit a thing and he comes in and hit a two run homer.. Only in yankee world does this happen. I swear, take any redsox, he can be 0-5000 and he will hit a grand slam for his first hit.... come on burnett!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to see ortiz continue to struggle for the rest of his forseeable career.. I always had questions about his sudden ascent to stardom...

This is what we paid 82 million for?

Another moron pitching acquisition by Cashman. Add it to the list.

I hate to say this, and this Yankee team has shown a lot of heart this year... but this game is probably a loss already.

Damn it's like he has good location on the first two strikes, then he leaves it in the middle of the plate.

Burnett has had one good year his entire career. **** you Cashman. If you didn't have a $200 million dollar payroll, you'd be nothing.

As much as we trash Burnett, the lineup's bats aren't alive either.

I wouldn't go that far. Boston's bullpen is a lot better, but I think the Yankees are better at everything else (starting pitching and hitting). Beckett is just hot right now, no one's hitting him right now. Burnett needs to get his act together and start pitching like the #2 we thought he'd be. He's pitched well against Boston in the past, but this year he's gotten rocked in both outings. He never really gave us a chance in this one, but at least we didn't waste a big offensive night, and our key reliever Aceves.

I expect the offense to come up big tomorrow, hopefully Wang can too.

I don't think there is any question that we have the better lineup and starting pitching

I think it's about even,

C.C. is better than Beckett. After that, the Red Sox probably have the advantage, especially with Wang being absolutely atrocious this year.
