Ah, but who doesn't know about The Secret Weapon blog? It's must reading for all Wizards fans! :D

Yeah...I thought Lee was a bit arrogant. There was a chat once where he was complaining about the lack of NBA questions, even though it was a Wizards chat.

Mad props to him though, I enjoy reading his Insider.

Ivan on the other hand, is struggling major time as new host of WPL.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

i too have been pleasantly surprised. lee has breathed actual life into the insider and embraced the role. i am pleased to admit that i might have been wrong about him. my impression of ivan though is going way way down since the former weakness of the blog seems to be at least somewhat attributable to ivan (based on the difference between the ivan and post ivan area). sure lee could be better (and he states the obvious too often) but he's improving and seems open to trying new ideas. i dont know whether it is due to Lee or the merger with the online staff but im optimistic about the future of coverage.

Agreed. I watched him today and he just seems out of place. In the television-hosting world, charisma can only get you so far if you don't have a natural stage presence and a broadcaster's voice.

He was utterly unremarkable when he was the beat writer in Atlanta and did nothing special when he was on the Wizards beat before Ivan. The stuff he's done for the blog is decent, but it's counterbalanced (at least to me) with the crummy job he did on the Crittenton piece. Plus, he completely whiffed on Haywood's return. Yeah, everyone else missed that story too, but that's the kind of thing he should have known about and reported.

Actually, that wasn't Lee, that was the blogger(s) from Truthaboutit.net. WaPo is "hosting" a blogger roundtable, where he's invited various Wizards-centric bloggers to offer their thoughts about the Wizards' draft strategy. It's a nice win-win: the bloggers jump at the chance to get additional exposure on the WaPo site; WaPo gets (presumably) free content, fresh voices and further enhances their reputation as a forward-thinking newspaper/news provider.

He sorta glossed over that I think Crittenton's best case is Alvin Williams. As I wrote in my blog, based on the history of players like Crittenton, it's more likely that he'll be out of the league after his rookie contract than that he'll become the next Alvin Williams.

Thanks, dat. ;)

Tony Kornheiser with some harsh words about Gilbert...

The basketball illiteracy within the DC media is indeed breathtaking. Almost all of them sound like mouth-breathers when they attempt to analyze basketball. Even John Thompson is not exempt from that on WTEM. What the internet has done is democratize information and to a lesser extent access and it exposes people who do not put in the time and effort to be informed about a given subject. TK is an entertainer, not a sports analyst of any ability.

What's even more amazing is that Kornheiser was virtually fellating Gilbert on PTI just two short years ago -- the legendary appearance when we learned about the falsetto pronunciation of "hi-baaa-chiiiiii" rather then the loud and abrupt "HIBACHI!" that was assumed.

Hollinger ranks NBA franchises, the Wizards are 23rd out of 30. No-surprise.

Mike Jones (obligatory who--WashTimesWizScribe that's who) has a blog:

http://strongtake.blogspot.com/

Both he and Mike James are on Twitter. Mike James left his email address up on twitter, but I realized I have nothing really to say to the guy.

Just tragically written. No wonder we're losing ground to the Chinese.

It was rather unfortunate, a collection of thoughts rather than an well thought-out article.

I think it would have been more coherent if it had been written in Chinese.

I guess it's going to be quality vs quantity since Michael Lee took-over the Wiz blog. Lee is the better writer, but Ivan provided a lot more updates since it was his specific beat.
