Re: Shaq wants back
Think beyond Shaq as the player. For the right money he would be great for showing Bynum how to use that big body. He's obviously a big part of our future with the contract we signed him to so why not learn the finesse from the Cap & the brutishness from Shaq. It'll go a long way.

Lol if Shaq got a generous buy-out and signed with us for the LLE, we will easily be the most hated team in the league.

Re: Shaq wants back
I don't see Shaq coming back...unless he's going to start. That would mean trading Bynum, which isn't likely to happen.
Also, with his divorce and other extreme expenses, Shaq needs/wants all that $$$ that is left on his current contract. I don't see him taking a pay cut for the Lakers or anyone.
Bottom line is Shaq and Kobe were best 1 - 2 punch ever, allowing the Lakers to win the ever elusive three-peat from the '80s. They probably should have won two more titles than they did, and the combo being more revered than it is because of the bad break up.
Robert Horry correctly pointed out on the radio the other day, that even with the bitter break up, the Lakers would have been hard pressed to win any more championships than they did due to the money. They would not have been able to surround Shaq and Kobe with enough pieces to sustain a championship level team.

Re: Shaq wants back
Isn't Shaq a free-agent?

But he definitely said that he would like to play w/ the Black Mamba.
So when his contract is up, and if the Black Mamba's on the team... we'll see what happens.
The "Kobe and Buss" issue doesn't have to be a problem.

Re: Shaq wants back
I thought he still had at least one year on his contract for $20 mil +. Also heard he wanted to go to Dallas.
Ultimate irony would be if Shaq is a FA, signs with the Lakers for the MLE and this time Kobe opts out and doesn't come back...
No way that all happens though.
