Trade Proposal from a Jazz fan

Post#1 » by blackham9258 » Wed Jun 10, 2009 4:24 am

If Carlos Boozer does not opt out of his contract and has one year at $12.5M would Charlotte be interested in trading Okafor for Boozer? Boozer is a 20/10 power forward, Okafor is a defensive stud. Does Charlotte still love Okafor? Are they wanting to shed payroll? Is this something they would be interested in?

If we were willing to include CJ Miles (an up and coming young wing) and take back Raja Bell would that add to the proposal for you all?

I am interested to see what you all think, and what the fan base thinks of Okafor, and or the money he his is owed and what management is wanting to do etc.

I don't think Okafor is overpaid (he would be if bitten by the injury bug) but I don't think anyone knows what is going on in those noggins of Larry Brown and MJ. I think the majority of the fans would do a Boozer for Mek swap though, not sure I would. I don't know what to think of it frankly.

That is interesting. You really think most fans are willing to do such a trade? A couple of years ago I proposed this trade and was laughed off the board. Has something happened in the last year? Was his contract negotiation and how much he is paid the issue, or is his production different than it was? It is always fun to see how fans feel about players season in and season out depending on production and or pay. I am interested to hear what it is in the case of Okafor.

I know over the last couple years we have ebbed up and down in our like and dislike of players on our team like: AK47, Boozer, Brewer etc. Right now, everone in Jazz land has a crush on Paul Millsap, but I promise that once we have to pay him $7-$10M per year he won't be that hustle scrappy player anymore, he will be overpaid and not putting up the numbers we need from a guy taking up that much cap space:)

But, overall I am surprised because I think I proposed Boozer and Brewer and was told that Okafor was the one for sure untouchable and that Crash was also untouchable.

I would but Bobcats fans wouldn't.

Why you would want Boozer

Better offensive player.
Can go threw him offensively.
can rebound basically as good as Mek.
Just in another league. Allstar type player when Mek is more like a glorified Noah

Why you want Mek

He has become an ironman
Boozer can have a year were he plays 40 games
Boozer can go a playoff series were he averages 15 although mek doesn't know what playoffs are

Overall still I take it. It's a steal for us and if they didn't have Millsap they wouldn't want it.

Boozer would potentially be nice, but the injury issues are what concern me. I'd rather stick with Okafor.

I'll take Boozer unless Okafor plans on scoring 22ppg next season.

I think if Okafor is a 17-18 point-scorer, he is easily more valuable than Boozer.
Humble yourself.

Hasn't Boozer stated already that he's opting out? Doesn't that make this whole thread moot?

Why worry about simple things like that. Focus on the thread.

I would not do one year of Boozer for Mek. I would trade Mek in a sign and trade for Boozer though.

Eh. Boozer's injury prone.

Before Boris I might have been up for a RE-SIGNED Boozer (no way I'm trusting him without it in writing), but now I'd probably prefer going another route. Unless we can pull in a Roy clone for more passing in the starting lineup I feel Boris has to play the 4.

Good point about Boris at the 4. Diaw/Boozer would be a bad pairing, I'd think. Maybe we'd move him though.

Then we could have an annual 30 game stretch without Carlos and Gerald!

Just to get Okafor off this team, I would make that trade. Although, I would be leery of giving Boozer more than 3 years guaranteed, but still worth the risk because we aren't winning anything with Emeka Okafor. He kills us on offense and takes way too many games off on defense too. Boozer also has more value around the league. That alone is why you make the trade.

Diaw can come off the bench and also play other positions. I would get rid of Wallace too

Diaw will most certainly revert to non-excellence coming off of the bench.

+1 to everything that Spectre said. Boris is very important to the way we go. He is every part the player of Boozer on offense, a better defender and a much better passer. The only think Boozer has on Boris is rebounding.
