Chad Ford Mock 4.0

Post#1 » by Esohny » Wed Jun 10, 2009 5:52 pm

Ford has us taking

6: Curry
18: Mullens
28: Victor Claver

Passing up Holiday and DeRozan at 6(apparently Evans is going to SAC). Of course, he thinks that Curry-Foye would be a "formidable" backcourt. Maybe on offense, but the defense would be painful.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Can we just fire Chad Ford? Curry-Foye would be a horrible backcourt.

I'd be disappointed, at least until Curry starts lighting it up

Ironic I have been curry-focused in posts today.

Curry is the best spot-up prospect. As well as has crazy potential as a p/r pg prospect. Those skills would be huge for this team. He likely will not be a #1 or #2 option. But his skill set would increase the value of al/love. I just hope that we get him by trading up our 18/28 or by bringing in another pick in the range. Our 5th should be spent on Rubio/Harden/Thabeast.(hope)

Exactly! As much as I dislike Tyreke Evans, I would still take him 1000 times out of 1000 over Curry.

I don't know. The articles the last couple of days make it sound like Curry may very well go before our pick and to NY at the very latest. I can't see us trading up to a late lottery pick to get him, either we taking him at 6, trade for the 5th pick or just pass on him.

On a side note, I'm not the biggest Evans fan. I think he's not an explosive athlete, has a broken jumper and doesn't have a defined position (not a PG), but this Kings workout video is impressive. Did they just edit out all the misses?

I figure we'll take Curry, since he's the guy I want the least.

Damn you tube. I have to watch that when I get home. I watched the Holiday one the other day and he looked great.

I agree that Curry would fit this team exceptionally well, especially now that he's measured a bit larger than expected and showed better athleticism than expected. His BBIQ is great and we can definitely use the shooting.

That said, based on Ford's explanations, it sounds like he thinks we'll take Evans if he's there, but in this mock he wasn't (nor was Harden). It became a decision, really, between Curry and Holiday, and he has us going Curry in that situation.

The thing that find irritating is that when he changes his mock, he doesn't necessarily change his comments. At least take the ten seconds to rewrite your two sentence comment about why BJ Mullens is a decent fit for the Wolves at #18...

I consider myself pretty open minded about 6, but I don't think Curry belongs in the conversation.

the problem is nobody else really stepped up, if you take Holiday and Jennings, you're basically ignoring an entire year of weak play, and that's beyond ballsy when you're talking #6 in the whole draft. Hill is kind of the college version of a contract year player and he doesn't fit our needs. It's either Derozan or Curry or reach a tad on Lawson or Flynn. All unattractive options in my eyes, but all in the conversation...unfortunately.

in my eyes, curry is a replacement for Foye. I would like us to get the #5 pick and get two guys that will compliment each other as our future starting backcourt.

1st - Harden, Holiday
2nd - Harden, Curry
3rd - Evans, Curry
4th - Evans, Holiday

he does look good in that workout. but it does not answer many of the questions we have about him. namely if he is a pg or a sg and why his jumper was so bad this year.

Rumor out of Memphis is that Tyreke Evans has both ESP and ESPN. He knew the Clippers were going to get the 1st pick, and he's seen how crappy they are, so he tanked his one and done season. Some day on the PC Comparison Forum, people will be saying "Kobe who?" "LeBron who?" and people will wonder if Jordan was just a little more athletic, how he would have done against Tyreke Evans.

Watching Stephen Curry I see a glorified Boobie Gibson. The kind of little guard that will get hot once in awhile and drop a few threes, but he'll never be able to carry the team on his shoulders. Mostly because he has a girlish figure.

I think Ty Evans has a better chance of being a #1 option than Stephen Curry, and I'm ready to swing for the fences. Especially after Kahn called Big Al and Love 2/4 options.

I am looking at this Mock and I like it. Curry has been my choice for our pick for a long time. Now he is starting to become more popular among teams as well. I also do like Mullins and would be ok with him if we keep the 18th pick. I also agree though it would be nice to find a way to have 2 top ten picks. Especially with so many teams looking to sell and the expirings we have to offer.

I didn't think that so many people here would be down on Curry. The guy has the best shot in the draft and it's not even close. He'd be so clutch for us, a team that needs that type of player, a clutch shooter. If he can handle playing the point there is no reason to pass on him at 6. Evans is great too but they both do some things well. Evans is a better slasher, Curry is a better shooter. Just seems strange to me to leave a kid averaging 29/6 out of the 6th pick conversation, considering he took a horrible squad and led them past Georgetown and Wisconsin in the biggest games of the year.
