The trade of evans for kapono for example....do you use 08/08 or 09/10 salaries? Also, what about on draft day? 08/09 or 09/10? I beleive you start using 09/10 on July 1 but wanted to check.

You would start using 09/10 after the july moratorium when the new capnumber is released.

The league's "season" officially ends June 30, and you use the numbers for the season you are in when the trade occurs. Note that at this time of year, a player must have a 2009-10 contract in place before he is eligible to be traded, even though it's 2008-09 numbers being used.
