I highly doubt New York, a future division rival, helps Boston land Stoudemire. As well, they get the short end of the stick with this deal. Nash and Baby?

Really, I didn't know that. Why would that be a rule?

They don't look like they'll be a division rival for a long time. The most they will accomplish is 1st round knockouts without this deal. At least with Nash they'd have a chance at getting out of the 1st round.

Why do we want Stoudemire?
We already have one injury prone superstar!
And the idea that the Knicks and the Celtics would help each other is just proposterous!

I don't see why each team wouldn't do the deal. They are getting what they want. New York might be able to keep their unrealistic dream alive about Lebron if they have Nash.

I can see where the Knicks would want Nash and where Nash would want to be there too playing in that style of play that his former coach is trying to establish there....but I just don't see us helping them get to that realization....any more than them helping us to make us better....it just wont happen!
And why trade Rondo?.... who's left to run the club then?
Why not just stab us in the foot and get it over with already?
You know Cfan79?... I can picture you going to Foxwoods and taking all of your chips and betting them on a single number at the roulette table!
Man ... thats a huge gamble IMO!.... and one that isn't likely to pay off either!

Are you kidding me?

Lebron's loyalty to his hometown doesn't match his loyalty to his high school buddies, who are the ones running his affairs, Entourage-style. Those guys get paid based on the endorsements Lebron signs. Lebron will try to make his friends as wealthy as possible.
Does Vegas have odds about Lebron staying or leaving yet? New York would be the favorite to Lebron I imagine.

Nope, the most I gamble is when I buy a Powerball or Megamillions lottery ticket. My only addictions are Realgm and Redtube.

With KG, Perk and Stoudemire as the bigs we can have a monkey with hemorrhoids play the point guard position. Look at many of the tops teams, a lot have average point guards.

New York has a better coach, a better GM, a team that's more than willing to pay the luxury tax, and is the largest media market in the league. Do you really think he'll stay with Cleveland so he can continue to play with an aging Ilgauskas, a choking Mo Williams, an undersized 2 in D-West, a flopper in Varajeao, 2 decrepit forwards in Joe Smith and Ben Wallace and a coach who lets his assistant coach draw up plays during crunchtime?
Cleveland is willing to do whatever they have to do to get Lebron. If he doesn't want to stay their he can go to Boston or Chicago who are both big markets and are better teams then NY.

Honestly, I think New York's plan is to sign Lebron AND Stoudemire and build around them with their current youth.

I was looking this up the other day but couldn't find it - but it sounds familiar. Basically a guy can be signed-and-traded for a package of other guys, but you can't sign a guy and package him with other guys and trade him, right?
If that is correct, it really kills a lot of the dumber Ray Allen trade rumors, specifically the ones where we get someone in a sign-and-trade like David Lee. Wouldn't work unless we want to give David Lee 19 mil per year, right?

So who is the monkey with the hemoroid problem?

None of this is right. I think you are mixing and matching rules that apply to trade exceptions and rules that apply to S&T. S&T deals are pretty straightforward and loose, minimum 3 years with the first year guaranteed other than that it is just a new contract that can be combined with other salaries in a multi player trade. The player has to agree to the deal and it can't happen till free agency starts.
Now the hang up with Big Baby would be Base Year Compensation, he is only going to allow Boston to take back half of his new salary in the trade and the new team needs to take on all of his salary. So for Boston to make a trade with another team over the cap it will have to involve at least 10 million salary changing hands for Baby to get a 5 million dollar contract.

ahh, thanks for the knowledge.
That last part about a Davis s&t is interesting, that allows for a bigger return than I thought possible.

Not entirely. It makes it really difficult because you are adding variables to a 3 way situation. Beyond that Boston would be nuking the opportunity to have Glen Davis back for 1 million bucks or some sort of team friendly extension. If his QO was closer to what he his actual salary would be then a S&T would be more interesting to Boston. S&T's with a guy that any team in FA can sign to his max offer are kind of rare.

Re: trade idea Bos/Pho/NY
another trade that does not win us a title, makes no sense for a team involved, and makes my eye's bleed.
haven't seen trade ideas this bad since the pierce/walker era.
GUYS. if healthy we would have won another championship this year. We went far missing top 5 player in kg. We don't need to trade away half the team for "name" players to win.
