With how shallow their bench is, though, any player that unexpectedly falls out of the lottery should be considered regardless of position. The Hawks have a lot of different options in this draft, but have the potential to get better. While this draft might not put them over the top, the Hawks could get a solid role player to fortify their bench.

As much as I would love to steal the PG of the future at #19 because of the depth at that position in the draft. I think this bit from the article sums up my draft strategy this year. This draft is deep in non-stars that can play and contribute at the next level. We have a really shallow bench and anyone we draft should have an opportunity to help if they work hard regardless of position. I would love to add an additional pick in the late first or early second because of this as well. It's also why I feel our 2nd rounder should be able to help us as well. Again it's not because I see star potential or even starters, but I see players who can contribute quickly and cheaply. I'm not scared by having multiple spots on the team filled with rookies as long as we have some veteran bench to go with them. Getting contributions from rookie deals is one way of making the most out of the salary cap. Look at Boston, could they afford the big 3 without cheap contributions from Rondo, Davis, and Powe?
Going to donkey punch a leprechaun!
