Re-doing the 2008 NBA Draft.

I thought it would be fun to go back and see what teams would do differently if they could re-do the draft. I'm going to make this a little more clear than I guess I did earlier because one Wolves fan felt like I wasn't clear enough. Since we made a trade with the Blazers, I'm going to add an option that says Still Trade Pick, if you select that, it means you are in favor of moving down two spots and getting Jack and McRoberts. I suppose if this option is chosen, I will have to see if the Blazers fans would still do it.

Bulls - Derrick Rose
Heat - Michael Beasley
Wolves - Brook Lopez
Thunder - Russell Westbrook
Grizzles - OJ Mayo
Knicks - Danilo Gallinari
Clippers - Eric Gordon
Bucks - Kevin Love
Bobcats - DJ Augustin
Nets - Jason Thompson

For me, I'd still trade the pick. The problem then becomes, if the Blazers still go Bayless and Thompson is off the board, what do the Kings do? I don't see them taking Brandon Rush, but it could be a problem.

Ultimately, I like what Jack brought to our team, he is a player I want to keep around. So I'm still in favor of the trade. I also love what McRoberts brings us and hope he can improve into the player I think a lot of us believe he can be.

I'd want Brandon Rush. Whatever I did, I'd be sure he'd become a Pacer again.

Deandre Jordan put together a good rookie year. A lot better than Roy, but I guess thats pick 17. I think #11 was a valuable pick because of Bayless, although Rush was our target we made out like a looter in a riot. I wouldn't change a thing.

I'd be incredibly tempted with Anthony Randolph. The kid looks legit, and could very well be a major two way player in the future.

I like Rush and Hibbert, but before the draft I was really high on Jason Thompson and Mareese Speights as legit PF prospects. They have both looked pretty good so far...

Why is Joe Alexander up there? He was picked before #11.

I would've done the deal with the Blazers (obviously) then I would've used #13 to take either Randolph or Speights and use our 1st rounder this year to go with either Terrence Williams or Gerald Henderson. Daniels and Jack could've held down the fort at SG last year.

In real life, yes. However, in this mock vote, with fans looking back and having the ability to second guess their owners, the fans have said NOW that they would not have taken Joe Alexander, and if the draft were re-done right now, he would still be available.

Oh jeez. There are so many variables to this that it makes it utterly pointless to go through and do this.

How are there so many variables? You pick a player - thats it. We are one of the only teams who has to discuss a trade.

Well, if we traded the pick again, we would have to see if Portland still wanted to do the deal, there is a variable, there is no guarantee that the way you have things laid out is how they would go down, that is another variable, and now that we have had these players for a year, fans may have grown fond of the guy they drafted, thus inflating his value.

1. Its not that big of a deal, I already made a thread to see if they'd still accept.

2. It was never meant to be a 100% accurate list, just what that teams fan base would want.

3. I imagine they have only grown fond of players that they feel deserve it, I never actually claimed it would measure value. I just wanted to see what teams fan bases would do differently, if they could do it over.

No, I like EJ, too, I just like Mayo. It tastes great with ham and cheese.

I think Rush should have gotten picked up earlier. He is better than the 13th best player in the draft. I didn't realize Lopez played so well, either.
