Re: Bulls fan trade idea
That's crazy.
We need a wing player and a backup center. Hinrich and some middling rookie (especially in this supposedly weak draft) won't necessarily address these issues.
Not to mention that trading two of our best bench players for Hinrich's contract isn't exactly the smartest thing to do....

Lose Landry with no replacement...
Get Hinrich with a bad contract. Not a good look for us. Give us Tyrus.

Re: Bulls fan trade idea
I don't think it's THAT bad, Cook and Barry are useless anyways. So essentially from a rotational standpoint, it's the 16th pick, and Hinrich for Landry and Lowry. I really like what Lowry has brought to this team, and same with Landry, so it's a considerable price to pay, but Hinrich's ability to hit from the perimeter and play All-NBA caliber defense, he would fit in like a glove (his contract sucks though which is concerning).
With the 16th pick, we could select a Blair if he slipped, doubtful, or some sort of rotational player. I'm not sure I'd actually do the deal, but it's a deal I'd strongly consider. Brooks would come off the bench and play and provide a spark, which might be the role he's most effective at, especially since Hinrich can play the two guard position, so Brooks could still get a considerable amount of minutes.

NO WAY!! Hinrich is unneccesary, and we dont need any picks. Lowry and LAndry are 2 of the teams main pieces, and we cant afford to lose them, espicially for Hinrich and a mid 1st rounder in a weak draft

It's safe to say we want no part of that trade.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I'd do this trade in a second. I really like Hinrich and what he brings to the table, and I'm not too high on Landry. Further, as long as this is accompanied by a Tmac for VC kind of trade, we are looking at a very good offensive and defensive team.

Yeah, I don't see why this is such a consensus "no."

B/C it's basically Landry for Hinrich. Would you do that? #2 pick has a big chance of being a bust much less #16. (big was an exaggeration, but you catch my point). We would add another small guy which we already have 2 of and be very thin at the the 4 with only scola. Makes no sense....that's why!

Re: Bulls fan trade idea
I like this trade, but it needs some tweaks.
Hinrich is a big upgrade over Lowry, and with him starting I'm positive we'll be able to utilize Yao's offensive game much more effectively. Brooks will finally be able to go back to the role he's best with, an offensive spark off the bench. The main concern is losing Landry for the #16, which may or may not pan out to be decent PF. I'd suggest that the two teams reach some sort of consensus on the trade, and when it's the Bulls' turn in the draft, Morey takes a look at the perspectives, and if there's anyone we want still left (especially a C/PF), then he just tells the Bulls take pick that guy, and then we make the trade. If there isn't anyone we like by that time, we simply call it off or ask them to give us a decent PF in return. I'm not too sure, but Tyrus Thomas might be an ok replacement.

McGrady and Lowry for John Salmons, Kirk Hinrich, Jerome James and the 16th pick
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Yes, I'd strongly consider. We'd lose him at PF which hurts, but that would net us a legit starting PG that would be a terrific fit in the system we run. It relegates Brooks to the bench where he can be most effective and not be counted to run a team for long stretches. Landry is great, and I love what he brings off the bench, but in the end it's off the bench in which we have our clear cut starter in Scola, and Hayes, who at worst is a nice compliment to him off the bench. Dorsey seems to be coming along, and considering we don't have much needs, we could devote the MLE towards signing some cheap big man that could come off the bench and try to replace what Landry is able to bring.
PG - Hinrich - Brooks - Barry
SG - McGrady(?) - Battier - Hinrich - Barry
SF - Artest - Battier - McGrady - Barry
PF - Scola - part of MLE - Hayes - Artest
Cc - Yao - other part of MLE - Dorsey
And if we count on McGrady being healthy at somepoint, or even whomever we'd trade him for, Artest would also receive significant more minutes at the PF position as well. A simple Joe Smith signing, with him, Scola, Artest, and Hayes manning the PF minutes, I don't think we honestly lose too much in production from what we had the past season. While adding Hinrich would definitely improve our rotation and production from the PG spot. His contract is bad, the only reason I'd have second thoughts about doing the deal, but assuming we're willing to spend, I honestly don't think it's as bad as some of you are making it out to be.

I agree, however there's a slight problem with your rotation, the OP included in Barry in the trade, so I don't see how he can play any minute for Houston if the trade goes through

Seriously, I'd rather have Lowry than Hinrich. Cheaper and his stye of play fits in nicely.

Yeah, me too. And I'd also rather have Landry than some rook in a weak draft.
