Status of Halladay?

I saw the first half of the game last night, can someone tell me the status of Halladay?

Supposed to get an MRI today (Saturday). I just watched the replay again, and I was thinking. The Jays are the kind of team where, if Halladay just felt the smallest tinge, the Jays would take him out. Maybe it really isn't anything all that bad.

Here's hoping. It's been preliminarily described as a slight muscle pull in his groin, but as several others have said, we know how that worked out with Litsch.

Here's hoping that Halladay ices, rests and then gets some light therapy on it, misses two starts and then returns at 100%.

During his pregame interview with Jerry Howarth Gaston said that he'd be happy if Halladay only has to miss one start. Obviously we won't know anything for certain until those tests come back, but that gives you a rough idea of what Cito expects.

Just heard on the Fan that Halladay's injury is described as a "mild" groin strain and he's day to day. This is great news as it looks like he'll avoid the DL.

I hope he takes his time to come back... If he tries to come back too early it'll keep flaring up probably

i hope he takes his time.. we really need him. but at the same time, he'll miss the game on ESPN

Actually I'm not too worried about Halladay anymore. As panicked and worried as we all were, the team was feeling it worse. I can't imagine they would take any chance whatsoever that would risk re-injury.

That being said I don't see him missing more than a start or two.

I don't think I would start him against Washington, even if he says he's okay. There's no point in having him try to hit and run out there. If we're going to contend in 2010 (the Jays say they might actually spend money to achieve this goal in the winter), we're going to need him healthy, so rest him as long as he needs.

Just on the topic, the Globe and Mail says that Halladay is day-to-day.

Toronto Blue Jays starter Roy Halladay threw lightly on the field before yesterday's game against the Florida Marlins and says his recovery from a mild right groin strain is "day to day."

"Just trying to keep my arm going," the 10-game winner said during a brief conversation.

The Blue Jays have decided against placing their ace on the 15-day disabled list, but he will miss his next scheduled start Wednesday in Philadelphia against the Phillies. Scott Richmond will start in Halladay's place.

It also says that he's had an MRI, that they're hoping he's ready for the Nats game but that Cito said the team will be "extra cautious" with him.

Canada.com gave Cito's quote as:

``It's going to go according to how he feels,'' manager Cito Gaston said. ``If he feels good, he'll throw some on the side again. If he doesn't, he won't. I don't want him to rush himself because (it is) better to have a couple of weeks without Doc than to have months without him. That would be really be bad. ''

``Doc's a tough guy, but he's honest too,'' Gaston said. ``He's not going to get out there and hurt himself again.''

our staff seems to be so dysfunctional when halladay is out, the sooner he comes back the better.

Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday, adding another arm to the club's list of walking wounded. Halladay threw a bullpen session on Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park, but still experienced discomfort in his strained right groin.

Toronto will need a replacement starter for Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. A possible candidate is left-hander Brett Cecil, whose next scheduled turn with Triple-A Las Vegas falls on that day.

Cecil is 2-1 with a 4.38 ERA in four starts for the Jays this season.
