Considering Ioannis Bourousis is most likely going to join the Spurs does concern me. The Spurs will groom him, Timmy will be a teacher, and for the most part I expect Bourousis to be a decent role player during the second half of the season. Time for him to work even harder on his conditioning (key) and for him to hit the weights even harder.

I am not against that, but if cant find minutes when your lineup except Tim have Bonner, Oberto etc, then means that something is wrong with the management, not with Yiannis. I am following his career from the beginning and every year is much better. For example last season, i was saying to my self, what if he had some back to basket moves, what a great big man he could be. This season i saw him using hook shot, so he is willing to work, and get better. For sure needs to hit the weights, but he has a broad shoulders to work so its not an issue. I dont feel that has a serious conditioning problem thought.

To be fair only a handful (if even that) of NBA Cs could handle Pekovic.

Also "KWSN-Man" could you please change your user name to something not stolen from a poster on a nother site it hurts my eyes, and the real KWSN-Man from interbasket asked me to ask you or a mod to do it, because he can't register on RealGM for some reason.

If you think his body is ready to play an 82 game season and the playoffs your sadly mistaken.

Spanoulis never got off the bench because he was a terrible NBA player, plain and simple. The game was too fast for him. He's not good enough to compete against the best basketball players in the world on a consistent basis. It's the player's job to prove to the coaches that he deserves playing time, and Spanoulis didn't prove jack squat. He just cried and pouted. He's a primadonna and overrates his basketball abilities. Being the best player in a 2nd tier league doesn't mean anything.

Good luck to Bourousis.

Wanna make a bet? There are only a few stronger players in the NBA then him if any and if he comes over he will prove so, and i sure hope he comes over just to shut some mouths up!
I said Gasol will be a 14-8 player and no one took me seriously i said Yi was gonna be a huge bust and he was, and i am telling you Pekovic would tear most NBA Cs a new one.

Hmm, I think I could find those 5 NBA centers stronger than Pekovic. Or may be not, his strength and his ability to use it to his advantage are supremely impressive. That's not important though; what matters is how many NBA centers will be able to do a good job guarding Pekovic - their coaches will have them guarding Pekovic straight up, from behind or playing 3/4. IMO:

Perkins
Howard
Haywood
Duncan
Bogut
Dampier
Chandler
Hayes
Ming
Okafor
Gortat
G. Davis
Przybilla
Sheed
Nene

15 there; then some guys about whom I have some doubts but that may be able to do a good job (some of them by playing less conventional post defence) or were rookies who've showed enough promise: Varejão, Foster, Dalembert, Lopez, Hibbert, Love, Evans, Noah, Oden, Garnett, Oberto, M. Gasol. (some of these will probably need help to contain Pekovic in some nights).

All this to say that I don't see Pekovic - assuming he keeps his very basic offensive game and doesn't add a mid-range jumper, or a finesse post game in the meanwhile - offering enough offensively as a starter to make up for his defensive efficiencies in the NBA. As a scoring big off the bench, yeah, he'll be a great weapon to have.

Anyway, I agree with you that not being able to contain Pekovic shouldn't be a mock on Bourousis. However, he'll need to improve his defence a lot to not be an hindrance in the NBA. He loses focus too much, he's already extremely slow and has lazy arms. Anyway, everything that is said before a new meeting between Papadakis and Olympiacos is baseless speculation.

I agree that he needs to improve his one-on-one defense and this will be an issue should he go to the NBA, however he is not "extremely slow" for a seven footer, the exact opposite i'd say.

Lol, where the hell did this come from? He doesn't have any conditioning issues and he won't be a more than 15-20 mins per game player for the Spurs.

The fact that he cried and then begged to go back to Greece even before he was traded to another team says more than enough. He just couldn't hack it in the NBA. He didn't want to prove himself unlike Petrovic.

Spanoulis and his agent, Miodrag Raznatovic, could not be reached on Thursday, but last week Raznatovic said Spanoulis would never play for the Rockets or any team in the United States. He even added ``They could trade him to San Antonio and he could be the starting point guard, and he would he would say, `No, I cannot.' ''

exactly. that's the difference between an all nba level player and a player that will be stuck playing second-tier basketball. that and obvious talent discrepancy.

no matter how you swing it Span is no Petrovic.

oh no you wont:)
Lorbek will stay for one more year in CSKA, and then hopefully try his NBA luck..
I dont see him going to Oly, after all the progress in this season..
I just dont think he could develope as much as he did, if he was in Oly..
