Reports: Rex Grossman to sign with Houston Texans

Looks like the guy with the gunslinger mentality may end up in Texas.

Former Bears quarterback Rex Grossman will make a free-agent visit to Houston on Thursday night, according to a report on ESPN.com. Agent Drew Rosenhaus told the web site he expected Grossman to sign a one-year deal. The Houston Chronicle also reported the signing.

The Chronicle's John McClain reported that the deal will be for the veteran's minimum of $745,000 and Grossman will take a physical Friday.

He is expected to compete with former Lion Dan Orlovsky for the backup job to Matt Schaub. Alex Brink is the team's fourth quarterback.

The Texans have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent quarterback Rex Grossman.

If Grossman passes his physical on Friday as expected, he will give the Texans four quarterbacks entering next week's minicamp.

Grossman, the Bears' No. 1 pick in 2003 will sign a one-year deal for the minimum $745,000.

That sounds like a good fit for Rex. If he can't beat out Dan O "run out of the back of the endzone" to backup Schaub then all the Rex haters were probably right.

I expect him to win the backup job and given Schaub's injury history he'll probably see the field this year.

Best of luck to you Rex.

I supported Rex, to a certain degree, during his time in Chicago. I believe he has the talent to be a good player, so it will be fun to see what he can do if he can stay healthy.

Best of luck to Rex.

It'll be interesting to see what he can do with a stud like Andre Johnson if he gets onto the field next year.

I'll guess he'll do a good job throwing the ball to the guy that's covering Andre Johnson.

Off his back foot.
Turn down for what?

Wow! I'm so happy that the Bears did not sign him as a back up. Best of luck to Rex maybe he will shine in Texas.
