Looks like Jennings is a negative

Post#1 » by Crossova21 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 10:39 pm

Great article on Pacers offseason. If we bring Jack back with Ford, I don't really see why we would need Jennings.

"We like the position that we're in at 13," says Morway. "We think there are a number of players there that we'll be able to look at who can help our basketball team. We're in a position of rebuilding the franchise and we're going to take the best available player. We're not in a position to be able to target a specific position on the court. We feel comfortable where we are, as far as where we are in the draft, and we feel we'll be able to get a player who's going to help us as we move forward."

The next item on the agenda, of course, will be taking care of their restricted free agents. The team was very high on Jarrett Jack last season and Morway is confident he'll be back next season.

"That would be our goal. You never know when you get into these situations, but out objective is to bring Jarrett back. Every time you get into this there are financial constraints, and you never quite know, but our objective is certainly to bring him back. Jarrett had a very good year for us, we liked the combination of TJ and Jarrett, so we're looking forward to having that again. He did a great job at the point, but also as a swing. We were able to go small at times and play TJ and Jarrett together. That really helped us at the two position, so we like his versatility. We definitely want to re-sign Jarrett, we just have to get to that phase of the offseason to see if we can do it."

With that said, my new favorite pick for us is Earl Clark. Love to pair him up with Granger and Hibbert in the frontcourt. I think that's who Bird has in mind this year.

Earl Clark and Ty Lawson are said to be the top targets of the Raptors at pick #9.

I think the title may be a bit misleading. Based on this, it doesn't mean anything. Morway says he isn't ruling out any position and their isn't a position of which they are targetting, just playing. If that means Jennings or not, who knows, i honestly don't think Pacers are interested, but i do think Pacers will try to get Jrue Holiday. If they fail, but Holiday drops to 13th, he will be a Pacer.

I hope we can retain JJ but certainly feel we can not overpay him. I'd like to offer Jack 4 years 18 mill., this is a perfect salary for him because we know he won't be the long-term answer at either swing position. But because he is a genuinely great guy we might have to pay a little more just for his normalcy. Throw in 2 mill. for his classy character.

I still like Jennings a lot and Clark also interests me, along with many others.

I don't like the fact Jennings dissed Holiday and Evans the other day and then today he calls Rubio "over rated". His attitude just seems sketchy from the start. Holiday is my dream pick. Only if i could find a Holiday signature. lol

With Ford having a P/O at yrs end, he could (will) be great trade bait - esp. at the deadline. If you only think Ford will be here that long, then No PG is out of the question, even if he appears to duplicate what we have (for now).

Yeah, I was thinking something of the same.

People are saying that Jennings is more mature than most guys his age because he's lived and played professionally in Europe. However, he only had to go to Europe because he couldn't get his grades or papers in order to play NCAA, lived with his mother in Europe, and is now trying to "punk" the other PG's in a very deep draft, while also skipping out on events he was committed to in Europe? I see no maturity there, and I see somebody who easily could be the next Marbury attitude wise, whilst probably not being any better of a player than a healthy Tinsley.

Sebastian Telfair, anyone?

Brandon Jennings admitted to making the statements just to build some hype around the draft and their matchups in the summer league. Seems to be working too because we're talking about it.

Well said, I'm at the point now of maybe passing him over at #13. At the same time, it would be great value. I'd grab him and trade him.

could be this year's Bayless ... the guy that has to be there to allow us to trade down and get the guy we really want. that said, I'm not bothered by his comments. you need some spunk in a one.

and I do think we need a young one even if Jack resigns because I'm not happy with Ford.

The latest NBA sponsored mock draft has us taking Gerald Henderson of Duke at 13!

i really wouldn't mind if Larry and David picks Henderson at 13.
By doing that, then maybe we could save a lot than pay Quis' his would be $8 million salary.
And i don't know if it's just me but i'm really thinking Dunleavy's days in Indiana are numbered, Larry might even hesitate to resign him after his contract expires. Plus, i think his injury's a bit freaky.
And with the emergence of a Brandon Rush, all odds are now on Dunleavy.

Rush+Henderson+Granger = Freaky.

Henderson doesn't make sense to me. Plus he went to Duke.

So was Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand, Grant Hill, Corey Maggette, Mike Dunleavy, etc. etc.
I have a gut feeling Henderson would be the best sg Duke has ever produced.

That isn't a great list. I like Boozer, but overpaid. Brand is hurt. I liked Grant Hill and feel bad for him. Maggette is overpaid. And Dunleavy is hurt and overpaid right now (hopefully not if/when he gets healthy). It looks like Duke produces a lot of overpaid players.

Battier is good, but I just don't really like Duke players. I just don't like Duke either, but now I just looked it up and they don't have great NBA talent, and the talent they have is overpaid. I guess half of the NBA is overpaid, though. I still don't want him.
