According to an NBA GM both Amare and Shaq are on the block

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:38 pm

We knew about Shaq already but an unnamed NBA GM says that Amare is also, from wiretap

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... nd_amare/#

One NBA GM said the Suns are still trying to figure out how to move Amare Stoudemire and Shaquille O'Neal.

So I guess this means the Suns arn't that interested in trading Richardson and Nash. If that one Shaq to the Cavs deal goes through do you guys think Amare will be dealt for another big or the Suns are planning on getting a big through the draft or free agency?

With Shaq and Amare gone that would basically make Lopez and Amundson the only front court guys...So this is going to be interesting

Exactly, now how much sense does that make. If they trade Amare and Shaq, then they are blowing it up!! Nash and a bunch of young guys...I don't think so.

Yeah it seems kind of strange, I doubt an NBA GM from another team would make this up, unless of course he is trying to push Amare's value down?

It doesn't make much sense to have a Richardson and Nash backcourt because both are poor defenders...

IF they trade both Shaq & Amar'e, there's no doubt Nash is gone. J-Rich probably will be put on the block too, and OKC will get the #1 pick next year and become the best franchise ever with a core of Westbrook/Harden/Durant/Green/#1 next year. DOPE!

Good, lets just blow it up and add some youth to build this SSOL under. Nash stays though.

I can see us accepting something ridiculous like Shaq + Amare for Varejao @ $8m, BWallace, DWest, Gibson and Hickson and cash + picks...

Anything the Hornets have that could grab Amare?

I would think so. David west, chandler( we're huge on chandler here), posey and butler are a few names we would like to have on the suns. I'm not sure what the exact deal would be but I'm sure a few others will chime in on possible proposals.

King's Fan, and I don't understand either why both Amare and Shaq are on the block.

The only think that I can think of, is perhaps Sun FO either knowing that they won't be able to or don't want to extend Amare come next summer.

Jamison + Thomas + #5 (Jordan Hill or James Harden) + for Amare. Is this fair?

Awful! Jamison has negative trade value, as has Thomas. It's salary dump move in favor of Wizards.

Jamison has negative trade value? Why is this?

It doesn't necessarily mean they would both be traded- just that they are both on the block for potential trades. I'm guessing they are hearing offers and will decide to deal one or the other.

That said. Here are a couple trades to consider from the Bulls. What do you guys think?

Amare for Hinrich (or Deng), Tyrus Thomas, #16
Trade ID #5113325

Hinrich and Brad Miller for Shaq
Trade ID #5113320

What a stupid notion. The Wizards aren't trying to dump Jamison -- they just extended him genius. And secondly, why would we use a lotto pick to dump one of our better players? And thirdly, Etan THomas is an expiring contract. We don't need to dump his salary because his contract is up at the end of the year. He's just filler in this scenario.

At least think before you shoot a trade down.
