And to Phil, congrats on winning #10! Perhaps you could now try to win a title by not cherry-picking your spots and building a team from the ground up! Red's 9 titles in 10 years are still the standard by all others are judged. And his 6 additional ones as GM/President/Architect still beckon...
MI I posted this for you, yet you didnt even take up on my challenge and replied to my post, but you keep on insisting that we have to titles.
Here just incase you missed it brah, let me repost this for you. At least this time I hope you can man up and come back with a reply instead of repeating the samething that makes absouletly no sense.
Here you go again brah.
MI I know your better than that brah, Your kidding me right brah?
You just answered your own question brah. If the city is SF and the team relocates to N.Y they take the franchise name with them, and thats why the 9ers came in after the Giants were moved to N.Y.
As far as the Dodgers they still own those titles cause the franchise was purchased and relocated to LA, Brah you are kidding me right?
Also what is this Lakers have 9 titles and they dont deserve the other 5 garbage in the past few months. Is this something that you guys like to keep digging at now that the Lakers are about to get another title brah?
Let me explain how your example is totaly off.
First of all the word franchise means:
A form of business organization in which a firm which already has a successful product or service (the franchisor) (Minny Lakers) enters into a continuing contractual relationship with other businesses (franchisees) operating under the franchisor's trade name and usually with the franchisor's guidance, in exchange for a fee.
Now The Detroit Gems were a National Basketball League team who played only one season, 1946-47. In 1947 a group of Minneapolis businessmen fronted by Sid Hartman purchased the Gems and moved them to Minnesota, where they were renamed the Minneapolis Lakers. In 1960 Bob Short decided to move the team to Los Angeles yet still the same franchise the same name of that franchise since he is and was the owner but a different city. LA. Bob Shorts sold THE LAKERS to Jack Kent Cooke YET THE NAME THE TRADE MARK THE FRANCHISE WAS THE LAKERS, so Jack Kent Cooke sold the Lakers in 1979 to Jerry Buss . The purchase price was $67.5 million, made it the largest transaction in sports history at that time.
Why because of the name its trade mark, its history and its titles. all of them, not only 5 but all of them since the begining of that franchise and its history.
Thats why the Minnesota Timberwolves are the Timberwolves and not the Lakers.
Thats why the Raiders are intitle to all of their Superbowl championships, its doesnt belong to LA or Oakland, it belongs to the Raiders.
Thats why the Atlanta Braves are called Atlanta Brave and Milwaukee Brewers are called Milwaukee Brewers.
When you purcahse a franchise and you pay $67.5 million dollars for the highest sport franchises your obtaining the name its history and eveything else it comes with.
Now if the Lakers were bought out like the Sonics did and as you can see they were moved to Oklahoma then thats why they changed the name of the team and they werent called the Oklahoma Sonics. Sure new owernship but he decided to part his ways with the Sonics. He bought a core of a team and relocated it to another city and changed everything about it so they can be a part of the NBA franchise they didnt care for its history or its name or anything that had to do with it. they simply just bought a team to build it from ground up.
Come guys, this whole Lakers only have 9 titles is seriously getting old and its making some of you guys look bad trying to discredit the Lakers (franchises) success.
If your going to do that then come up with a rational reason that you can backup, not by sitting here and keep repeating the same nonsense over and over agian.
