Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
Teague/Foye/Telfair
Brewer/Foye/Derozan/Jermaine Taylor
Miller/Damion James
Love/Cookie
Jefferson/Cheap vet
Draft DeRozan with #6/Teague with #18/Damion James with #28
Trade two second rounders to move up and pick Jermaine Taylor
We have three (four if you include Miller) ball handlers. DeRozan gives us a true shooting guard. James and Taylor are a studs IMO. Then let the players fight it out for playing time.

For sure. It seems like the Clippers really like Gordon and Jordan and want to build around them. We'd need to take a lot of their junk to make it worth their while.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Eric Gordon?
If so, he's even less of a Point Guard than Foye is.

Well, nobody said he was. He would be an upgrade at SG. We'd still need to grab a PG.
*edit: Apologies, I see somebody did suggest that...not that I understand it.

Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
Ha I thought that would get responses like this. Towards the start of this past season some of you were insisting that Gordon would be the Clippers future pg.. Reminds me of when Childress was way too thin but now would be a good addition.
As for that line up, Miller would play point forward. At first I had a trade based on Miller for Diaw but took it out. I think that would have been better. Not that it changes the fact that Eric Gordon is no longer a PG prospect.
*Original trade had Miller going to LAC for Kaman. Then the Wolves would swap Kaman for Diaw. But the Bobcats would need to get more value and I couldn't remember if picks could be added in a trade such as that. I guess it could have just been a three way trade but those are unlikely on draft night.

Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
IF Rubio's upside is a more supercharged, defensively pesky Steve Nash with shooting a work in progress. And IF his floor is still a rock solid, pass-first, starting NBA point guard THEN I really hope the Wolves will explore every option to trade up.
First and foremost, try to find a way that let's us keep Jefferson and Love. Spare no other asset. This includes picks #6, #18, #28, 2010 UTAH. This includes young players such as Foye, Brewer, Craig Smith, Gomes, Telfair, Pekovic. This includes moving expiring contracts like Miller and Cardinal and taking on bad contracts.
If this keeps us from acquiring the top free agents, so be it. I'm not exactly holding my breath for Lebron or even a Joe Johnson. As long as it doesn't prevent us from resigning our young core, I would much rather leverage our cap space to help build in the draft. Obviously, any team(s) we swing a deal with are not going to have room for all of these guys. But everything should be on the table.
The full 3 MIL cash offering should also be in the equation. It's not going to happen, but I'm sure it would help entice a team like the Grizzlies. If Taylor really wants to show the fans he's committed to turning this around... I'd rather go to 2-3 games next season, pay full value for an upper deck ticket and get to watch a promising young nucleus that includes Rubio rather than going to 0 games, despite having the opportunity to purchase prime seats for peanuts to watch horrible basketball.
Unfortunately, a king's ransom in current and future mid-round picks and underperforming top 10 talent probably isn't enough for a team like Memphis or the Clips to cough up a top pick. That's where I really want a GM that's going to scrap and hustle to the Nth degree to find a third or even fourth team that's going to help us consolidate these assets in to something that will get a deal done.
If all else fails, I would not be opposed to moving Jefferson or Love in the right deal. I don't believe they're the starting 4-5 complement on a championship calibre team. I would love for them to be two cogs in a 3 man-rotation that includes an athletic, shot-blocking, legit 7 footer. However, that might not be an affordable luxury. If I had to choose, I would rather have just one of them locking down PF, if it means having Rubio running the show at the point. Craig Smith is still in the mix this way, and maybe Pekovic is the #3 man in a future 4-5 rotation.
IF Jefferson is moving -or- if Love is moving with the #6 pick, then something else would have to be coming back to upgrade the SG, SF, or C position.
I'm not going to pretend to have seen enough of Rubio to know he's definitely worth this steep price tag. But if the hype is legitimate, as judged by the people to paid to evaluate talent, then I do believe he's the perfect fit to this puzzle. Rubio is the one guy in the draft that I can really see making his teammates better. Obviously, a lot will be going out to land him. But I can see Rubio taking whoever is left to a new plateau. I would love to see Brewer running the floor with Rubio, on the receiving end of Love's outlets. I would at least be intrigued to see what Foye could do paired with a capable distribution point guard. I think Miller would be everything we were hoping for with Rubio setting him up.

Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
I completely agree on Rubio (especially since he is a year younger than anyone else in the draft); 2.5 years younger than Stephen Curry.
Also I really like the idea of sending Memphis 3 million cash as BrandyMcRoyFoye suggested. I think that would be a huge bonus for them and greatly sway it in our favor.
I think Memphis might be willing to do a
Jaric, #2 for #6, 3 million cash, Cardinal
-since it would save them 3 million cash + 7.5 million for Jaric's 2010-2011 salary
If we don't want Jaric back, we could swing him to another team for a different 2010-2011 expirings (such as Nazr, MoPete, Gadzuric, or someone else)

Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
New lineup for the new draft order of preference
#6- Stephen Curry
His measurements were the only things holding me back at first. I really think he can be a super point guard in the NBA.
#18- Earl Clark
Love his potential and think he could fit in well as a small forward for us.
#28- Nick Calathes
More depth in the backcourt is needed and Nick is a player who can do abit of everything at both positions.
#45-Demarre Carrol
Worked his ass off this year at college to add to his game. Is the type of hard worker that always succeeds from the second round.
#47- Milan Macvan
Is another one of thos hard working types. Still needs some time overseas but could be an impressive recruit in a year or two.
That would leave us with.
PG- Curry/Telfair/Brown
SG- Foye/Brewer/Calathes
SF- Miller/Gomes/Clark
PF- Love/Smith/Carrol/Cardinal
C- Jefferson/Madson
Overseas Rights: Pekovic and Macvan

You know what would be great?
Trade Al Jefferson and the 6th pick for Hasheem Thabeet. I hear he's awesome. I'd toss in Love for Jaric if the Grizzlies would consider that, but they might just laugh that off.
This damn team.

Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
I'm Horrible with how trades could go down (I'm not qualified to make informed trades) but my ideal roster would be:
Start of Season:
Foye/Flynn*
DeRozan*/Foye/Brewer/Carney
Chandler(NYK)/Brewer/DeRozan/Carney
Love/Cookie/Cardinal
Gortat/Bj Mullens(ONLY because Big AL isn't available)/Cookie
After Big Al Gets Healthy:
Flynn/Foye
DeRozan/Foye/Brewer/Carney
Chandler/Brewer/DeRozan/Carney
Love/Big Al/Cookie/Cardinal
Big Al/Gortat/Bj Mullens/Love
This means that: Bobby Brown/Sheldon Williams/Mad Dog/Cardinal/Mike Miller/Gomes/Telfair are all traded.. and the only one I am sure of getting is 8th Pick + Chandler for MM/Gomes/Telfair...but I have no idea if that would work.
I imagine a Deron Williams/Derek Fisher Type Pg prospect in Johnny Flynn who is an extremely Mature player, who can slow the game down/or speed it up with our flashy wings.
Love with the outlets as well as his Rodman/Mad Dog flair
Pure PG in Flynn
Secured Backcourt in Flynn/DeRozan/Foye
Scoring Punch in Big Al/Foye/Chandler/DeRozan
Security on Defense in Brewer/Love/Chandler/Flynn/Gortat.
We have a high energy and high risk taking bench
ben gorden type player in foye
I would like to see that team.

Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
This is completely unrealistic but I think it'd be fun to watch...I'm not going to get crazy with trades I'll just say who I want, and who I'll give up. I want the ultimate running/gunning/slashing/athletic team...
Keep:
-Kevin Love
-Corey Brewer
-Randy Foye
-Craig Smith
Trade/Cut:
-Everyone else...including Al Jefferson
I want a final lineup to look like this:
PG: Rubio/Lawson/Foye
SG: DeRozan/Foye/Brewer
SF: Brewer/Carney/DeRozan
PF: Love/Smith
C: DeAndre Jordan/Defensive center
I realize this team can't shoot, and is raw as all getup.....but who cares when you can DUNK!!!! I can see it now, after the first 3 years of pain this will be the most exciting team to ever grace the hardwood floors of an NBA court. Rubio tossing oops up to everybody, averaging 20apg. Kevin Love with full-court-outlet-oops and 15rpg. Nasty defenders flooding the passing lanes and opening up the fast break. Unselfish dunkers throwing double, triple, QUADRUPLE oops!!!! We would then flirt with the idea of changing our team name to the Minnesota Gazelles...only to realize that Gazelles are wussies and our team plays the game with a ferocious tenacity much like a.....Timberwolf...BINGO, the Timberwolves we shall remain.
PS: I don't actually desire this roster next season....but it's fun to think about how a team like this would work..

Re: What roster do you want to see next year?
I was thinking about a big time running and gunning team earlier today. This is what I got:
Trade: Love + Foye + Brewer + 18 for 2 & Gay
Trade: Cardinal + Madsen + Gomes for Josh Smith
Trade: 28 + Pekovic for Jordan
Team:
C - Jefferson,Jordan
PF- Smith,Jefferson
SF- Gay,Miller
SG- Miller,DeRozan
PG- Rubio,Telfair
Financials more than likely don't work and there would be way too many egos on this team, but it would be fun to watch.
Edit: Realized I didn't use the 18th pick.

For run and gun...I'd rather have Love than Jefferson simply because of his full-court outlet passes. Also, Jefferson seems to slow the game down and is def a half-court player. I love the guy but I don't think he fits run & gun.

I love this idea of swapping the 9 for Foye, possibly with some extra players (Humphries?). It's great how much Kahn is pushing to make this team better, like trying to draft Rubio.
