Too bad he'll never stay in state, or at least he shouldn't if he wants to be a no. 1 pick. I'm a Hawkeye and even I'll feel bad when he stiffs the Cyclowns. The kid is legit.

I spent a week in Iowa once. I think my presence doubled the average IQ in Iowa. ;-)

He should be a Gopher. Tubby would guarantee him making it to the NBA. ;-)

He should really go to Kansas, he needs to go somewhere that plays faster than Minnesota. Iowa State will be in the mix because his dad played ball there. Saw Harrison when he was in 10th grade, and was blown away.

finally another Harrison in our lives!!! I can't wait until his NBA combine day so I can make jokes about how he made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs

:rofl2:

big nerd points to dsw.

I've always been a little disappointed in the inaccuracy in Solo's statement, though...12 parsecs is a measurement of length that would be equal to about 39.12 light years.

Maybe when they starting running suicides on the first day of practice he can yell "One thing's for sure, we're all going to be a lot thinner."

Traveling through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops boy, without precise calculations you could fly right through a star, or bounce too close to a supernova and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?

The Kessel Run was an 18-parsec route used by smugglers to move glitterstim spice from Kessel to an area south of the Si'Klaata Cluster without getting caught by the Imperial ships that were guarding the movement of spice from Kessel's mines. Worlds along the Kessel Run included Fwillsving, Randa, Rion, and possibly Zerm.

It took travelers in real space around The Maw leading them to an uninhabitable—but far easier to navigate—area of space called The Pit, which was an asteroid cluster encased in a nebula arm making sensors as well as pilots go virtually blind. Thus there was a high chance that pilots, weary from the long flight through real space, would crash into an asteroid.

Han Solo claimed that his Millennium Falcon "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs". A parsec is a unit of distance, not time. Solo was not referring directly to his ship's speed when he made this claim. Instead, he was referring to the shorter route he was able to travel by skirting the nearby Maw black hole cluster, thus making the run in under the standard distance. He may have indirectly referred to the speed of his ship in this instance because, to be able to go closer to a black hole and still be able to get out of its gravitational pull, it is necessary to go faster. However, parsec relates to time in that a shorter distance equals a shorter time at the same speed. By moving closer to the black holes, Solo managed to cut the distance down to about 11.5 parsecs. The smuggler, BoShek, actually beat Solo's record in his ship, Infinity, but without cargo to weigh him down.

I am a Cyclone...I wish he'd stay in Ames but I can't really expect him to. I mean Coach K and Roy Williams made visits to Ames just to see this kid, he's got too much talent to stay and play for state. Sometimes I think what it'd be like to have Brackins return for his senior year and get Barnes as well. That team could do some serious damage but it isn't realistic. I'll have to attend a game this winter and report my findings.

ok, well to be fair, I'm 99% sure that had to be a cover up for George Lucas's shoddy writing (as much as I love star wars, Lucas cannot write to save his life).

And what allowed him to go fast enough to travel near black holes?

That was one of the best nights of my life. Being on the field next to Kirk and Mitch King was insane. After that it gets pretty foggy ;)

Do you love 1-3? I really dislike them. JarJar and Maul are painfully lame.

No. Each of 1-3 got progressively less bad, but I wouldn't say I like 3. I can TOLERATE 3, I very much dislike 2, and despise episode 1 more than the hypothetical idea of trading Love+6 for Thabeet+Jaric.

I didn't mind Maul as much. The lightsaber fight with Kenobi/Jinn/Maul was easily the best part of episode one, but that's like picking your favorite pile of poop. I never understood why so many people liked the pod race, that was way over hyped. Plus forcing in a kid version of Greedo like that was a big reach. I like that JarJar was phased out progressively over the sequels, he's my least favorite movie character that I can think of off the top of my head.

I don't think that was supposed to be Greedo, just some random Rodian. Maul just seems so out of place. He look likes an indecisive kid on halloween. First he wants to be the Devil, he gets the horns on and paints his face red. But then suddenly he wants to be a snow owl, so he gets the yellow contacts. Then he remembers he always wanted to be a tribal warrior so he throws on some black paint. But then in the end he doesn't look like the devil, an owl, or a warrior. He just looks silly.

I remember them referring to the Rodian as Greedo. I looked into it and it turns out it's Greedo's dad Greedo the Elder in episode 1.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Greedo
In a deleted scene from the The Phantom Menace DVD release, a character named Greedo is seen fighting in the street with a young Anakin Skywalker. After the fight is broken up by Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Greedo is warned by a fellow Rodian that some day his actions will get him shot. The Expanded Universe has clarified after a retcon that this Rodian is in fact Greedo the Elder—the father of the Rodian seen in Chalmun's Cantina.

Yeah, Maul wasn't great, but compared to the rest of the movie, he was the best part of the movie, imo (low praise, I know).

I'm not holding my breath on Barnes being a Gopher. Tubby never lands the top ranked recruits but that's mainly because he doesn't go after them. In this case, I think a more guard oriented team will end up winning the Barnes sweepstakes.

yea i love iowa, i'm constantly eating their crops

episodes 1 to 3 are much maligned, but I've learned to accept them. Jar Jar Binks is beyond ridiculous and youngest Anakin is an awful acting choice. Also, for some reason they wrote a lot of interruptions into the script even though nobody knows how to do it naturally. Like qui gon tells anakin to stay in the cockpit in episode 1, and Anakin goes "But I....." and Qui Gon fake interrupts him and it sounds dumb.

I wish they'd re-make the whole 6 episode series without George Lucas' Sesame Street directing and the bad actors. Sacrilege to the Star Wars fanatics, but the basis of the movies is solid, but its ruined with the lame cuteness that G.L. tries to instill and the **** acting. They should re-make it w/ whoever the director for the new Batman was. He turned that series from a sickening sugar coated lame series of movies to straight darkness, that'd be awesome to see Star Wars uncensored like that.

Don't make me comment on the midichlorians again...

Yeah, those movies had the story skeleton, but needed a good director, decent actors in ALL the roles, and somebody sane to rewrite Lucas's awful script. The fact that he doesn't have to listen to anyone about how crappy his ideas and work are because he's a freaking billionaire is a huge part of the problem.
