Who cares, it's obvious he has a clear bias, that's why ESPN keeps him on staff, because it'll keep on bringing people back, they love reading stuff like that. So he can keep spewing the same garbage all the time, aint gonna change the fact that the Lake Show are the champs.

Re: The BS continues...
Its funny because at the very end he chokes out a pretty damn nice compliment but the poor guy has to coat it with so much hater crap before hand its laughable. He'll always be a Kobe and Laker hater and nomatter what he does it will be fake in his eyes so there is no point in arguing with him.
He can praise KG's and PP's douchiness to no end but he can't admit Kobe has grown and changed? I'm sorry but guys like this on this team wouldn't follow him or play like they have and responded to every challenge if there wasn't real chemistry and camaraderie on this team. Yes Kobe is a weird figure and has had a strange life, he was a teenager trying to relate to adults the first time around but this team these are his peers and friends. So his stats were similar but I'm sorry 2.4 assists in the finals is a pretty big improvement. He took more shots? He's F'ing supposed to, this comes from the coaching staff as much as Kobe himself, especially when teams single him with a smaller defender. Every time the team needed him to facilitate he came through. Look at the Denver series, he damn near force fed the ball to Odom several times to get him in a groove, he directed Pau to get the ball and take it to the hole. He accepted double teams and made the right decisions. He had the one forced shot to win the game but he had blown by his man and with only 1 second left thought he could get a shot off. In plenty of other big clutch situations he was more than willing to give up the ball, to Derek multiple times, to Lamar and Pau in many games and even to Trev and Shannon at big moments during the playoffs.
Has he been perfect, hell no, but his leadership has been visible and obvious and he's had one hell of a playoff run this year. I dunno what he saw, but I saw a Kobe that improved even over his last season, taking over when needed but deferring and allowing the team to succeed on its own as well. Look at LeBron, he tried to do everything, if anything he was fake with all the pregame fun with his team. Come playoff time he didn't even hardly let his team help him, dominated the ball start to finish. Kobe was much more a leader, yes he can be hard at times but look how these guys have responded and followed him. He allowed the team to succeed all year and they came through for him in the end. Same ol Kobe my ass. Bill just needs to not write about LA anymore, he is just too bitter about them.

Re: The BS continues...
I got about half way down and remembered this muthF***** REALLY love hearing himself talk. Not to mention WHO THE F*** is he really? What makes him think his disturbing opinions about NBA athletes (and basketball for that matter) really are important? Its hard for me to seriously accept the opinions and criticism about kobe from a guy who cant play the game himself. If kobe was attempting to be the world's best felcher, then simmon's perspective may be just what the doctor ordered.
This time last year he was tasting KG, Allen and Pierce's azzes when they all needed each other more than anyone of the perinnial losers in the league. Not to mention I guess I couldn't expect much more than this from a boston celtic mouthpiece.
Either way back to shining the trophy!!!

Let's draft a letter and get as many basketball fans as possible to send it to ESPN complaining about what **** writer Bill Simmons is.

which would further reinforce his readership and make him even more valuable to espn
the best way is to simply not care

Because enough people complained about his Celtics love last year ESPN was dangerously close to getting rid of him last year, my hope is that we can be the straw that breaks the camel's back

I don't view a little Laker hate from an admitted Celtics fan all that bad a thing. Fanning the flames could be good. I'd love to see the Celtics in The Finals next year as it would just insure the Lakers would be all that more motivated.
However, as far as Simmons' writing, it can often be entertaining. Here is one of the most fun pieces I have ever read:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/060224
Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I try to read it once a year.

Re: Kobe 09: The BS continues...
Despite the bias in his tone and opinion, it was an interesting article.
You guys need to stop taking these "hater" pieces like a stab through the heart and learn how to read through the lines. He made some damn interesting observations and made a few realizations, for me personally, that I would be a little bit concerned about, come next season. Specifically, the disease of "more".
What annoys me about ESPN, in fact all of American sports analysis, is that when argument needs to be proved, they bring out the stat lines. That **** me off to no end. Ok, so Kobe's statistics were similar to last season's, but it doesn't mean he played just as selfishly.

read this the other day, i only skimmed over it because of who the writer is - he has got to be kidding himself with half the stuff he said in the article. Dude just won the championship and finals MVP, and he's still taking pot shots at him

bottomline is kobe is the best player in the world, and we have the best team in the world. **** haters like simmons. he can crunch numbers, stats and whatever else he likes, but the fact reamins that tomorrow my favorite team will be holding a parade on fig,ya dig?
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Here's somewhat of a rebuttal from Forum Blue and Gold that I thought was directly on point. My favorite part was the last paragraph.

But, beyond that, Simmons most recent attack on Kobe is agenda-driven nonsense. We get it, Bill. We know you hate Kobe. We know you hate that he now has more titles than Bird. We know it eats away at you that the Celtics are probably a one and done band of mercenaries while the Lakers are built for the long haul. We know that the Lakers have won 9 titles and been to 15 finals in your lifetime compared to 4 and 6 for the Celtics. We know those 60s Celtic rings came in a different NBA — pre-expansion, salary cap, globalization, etc. We know that, as a Celtics fan, you have sworn a blood oath to discredit and undermine LA and Kobe at all costs – even if it infects the tone and quality of your writing. But, please, give us Laker fans the courtesy of relying on actual facts and evidence to support your arguments. Don’t rewatch the finals celebration a dozen times searching for one missed high five or false smile. Don’t read Phil’s mind. Use your army of researchers to give us meaningful something to actually chew on and think about. Because what I see when I study Kobe is the game’s preeminent player, leader, teammate, and winner.
