If Joe Johnson is willing to sign an extension, I think the Warriors can put a pretty attractive option on the table:
Monta Ellis
choice of
Brandan Wright or Kelenna Azubuike.
Monta goes home, replaces alot of backcourt offense. I think Brandan Wright is a bit redundant since Smith and Horford are both PF's, but he's still got loads of potential. Alternatively, Azubuike would be quality swingman depth.

Personally, I really like what Brandan Wright has shown so far. Decent talent in that package but probably a weak fit with restructuring the entire team.

Why do I keep hearing that Monta would be coming home to Atlanta? Is he not a Jackson, Mississippi native? You know home of maniacal moped gangs.

"Home" being the geographic region. Certainly, Atlanta is more "home" than anywhere on the West Coast.

Wouldn't Memphis or New Orleans therefore be closer to his "home" geographic region?

Not a Johnson trade, but with the Wizards: would you consider Blatche + #5 for Horford + #19?
Blatche has the length to be a legit C beside Smith, and he's a solid, but unspectacular rebounder/defender. Here are their numbers:

It looks like there's a chance Rubio falls to the #5.

Yes, I would do that. But a lot of it depends on how highly we value Horford, an area where you will find many differing opinions among Hawks fans.

It's an interesting deal, but there are two caveats. First, I'd need a sweetener.
Horford + #19 + #49
for
Blatche + #5 + #32
If it included a swap of 2nd rounders as well then I like the overall value provided #2. It would have to be a draft night trade. By that I mean I would have to know who we can get at #5 before making the move. James Harden, Ricky Rubio, or Hasheem Thabeet and I'm good to go. If they went 2-4, then I'm less thrilled. While Jordan Hill, Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry or Demar DeRozan could turn into a good player I'm not happy with the pick value. The additional swap of 2nds should allow us to add a rotation player where at #49 we are going to have to get lucky with a faller or strike on 1 skill specialist (like Jon Brockman for rebounding) for immediate impact.

Re: What could Joe Johnson fetch in trade?
I wouldn't take the Blatche for Horford, even with the picks evildallas proposed. I don't have much faith in Blatche.
I would, however, do Horford + 19 for McGee + 5, or the Blatche deal if instead of the 2nd round this year we get a first next year.

I agree with you that I prefer McGee, but the talk was he was off limits because of the promise he showed year one on the defensive end.
The other reason I am okay with Blatche is that he's signed to a very reasonable deal for the next 3 years (he'd be half as much as Al in year 3).

If Bibby is not resigned..
Josh Howard, Jason Terry, JJ Barea
for
Joe Johnson and Speedy Claxton
Obviously I'm a Mavs fan, would Atl ever consider it?

Re: What could Joe Johnson fetch in trade?
^^^ Actually, I wouldn't. Still have a bad taste from Jason Terry's last stint here and I'm just not a fan of Josh Howard. They're talented players, but just don't do it for me.
