J.R. Smith's last-second whiff left the Knicks with a sixth straight loss. But J.R. would do it again. "I think we went with the best shot," he said.

They don't have anything really besides David Lee and we don't really have a spot for him on the roster.

No to Larry Hughes! But I'm sure we would be demanding that number 8 pick though. I also like Wilson Chandler and the potential of Danilo Gallinari.

We could use Lee as a back up C...not sure how he would feel about it

Yeah, about all I could figure out was that we'd have to get Al Harrington, draft pick(s) and take on extra salary. I don't see anything happening just because the Knicks asked about it, but it's not impossible.

Funny thing, the best Knicks players aren't hardly making any money (with the exception of Harrington, who is overpaid).

The only way for this to happen is the Knicks dump some salary on you guys for next season in exchange for some cap relief this year, on Houston's end. It's probably in an attempt to circumvent the lux tax. No big deal, no draft picks lol, and no David Lee. Just some of our less expensive bums for your gimpy, washed up, expiring superstar. It's hard for fans to swallow sometimes, but owners will sometimes shed salary in lieu of talent.

Funny thing is, the Knicks are pretty much a crappy team overall and have no hope until 2010. Thats if they can lure LBJ or any high prized free agents.

Hey, what would you guys think if we could swing a deal for Duhon, S. Jackson and Curry for T-Mac, Barry, and Cook? Im working out a trade between LAC/HOU/NYK/GS. It works for us in the trade checker and we dont giveup any core players.

See the difference is that McGrady will shed himself. We have no reason to trade him. We are in like the best possible situation. We have once great player going into a contract year. If he is great...we are great...if he isn't...he expires and we lose nothing...b/c as we have shown...we are still pretty good without him. Not championship caliber...but definitely make some noise in the playoffs caliber.
We are good dude....our owner isn't stupid....nobody wants any washed up Knicks.

Re: Source: Knicks Inquire About T-Mac
One of the NY writers about a month or two back had as part of his fix of Knicks trading for McGrady. Now it's bubbled up nationally. Nothing to it other than NY writers/fans assuming "We're the Knicks, people just have to take our junk !!!"
The DraftExpress "story" couldn't even find the famed "NBA executive" or a measly scout for their bit. All they claimed was they "heard" the Rockets were shopping McGrady. Somewhere Fran Blinebury is smiling,if he wasn't the alledged source in the first place
Even the story on Knicks inquire ends up w/the writer saying it's likely the Knicks GM is just doing due diligance-in other words there's nothing to it,but boy can we sell a couple of extra papers!
The supposed Knicks offer is crap-pure and simple. They are supposed to be offering Hughes and Mobley, who make $23mil this upcoming season, and expire after that. The savings-it's the insurance of 80% of Mobley's salary. That's it.

If Houston was any smart, they would look to try to help NY for this year and this year only just because NYK's pick goes to rival Utah this next draft so unless Houston wants Utah to get themselves a young quality player high in the draft then they should see to it that NYK isnt a awful team next year

Re: Source: Knicks Inquire About T-Mac
Love Lee and he would be a great back-up C but for how much he's going to command in FA or S&T it isn't feasible/worth it. The only thing I could possibly see HOU being interested in is NY's pick. There's absolutely no reason to trade expirings for expirings as I don't think we're over the lux tax right now and there isn't anybody on NY's roster that would crack our rotation or be worth it except for their rookie contracts (Gallinari/Chandler) and NY seems pretty high on both so doubtful they are going to let them go for an expiring.
I also don't see T-Mac being traded this offseason unless something crazy is offered. T-Mac's value has the possibility to be much, much higher come trade deadline when people will get to see how his recovery is coming along and there's no real loss if he doesn't even come back this season as his contract will just expire. The only thing I could possibly see happening this offseason is if they feel they have to trade T-Mac's contract to make room for Artest and avoid the lux tax, though I don't really get the feeling they are high on Artest either.

Re: Source: Knicks Inquire About T-Mac
What about this?
HOU trades: T-Mac, Barry, Cook, HOU future 2nd
HOU gets: S. jackson, Eddy Curry, Chris Duhon
GS trades: Crawford, MAG, Jackson
GS gets: B-Diddy, Mobley, Jefferies
LAC trades: Davis
LAC gets: MAG, HOU future 2nd
NYK trades: Curry, Jefferies, Duhon, Mobley
NYK gets: T-Mac, Crawford, Barry, Cook
We fill our needs at SG, backup C, more talent at PG (and depth), and save 4 million on this year (really next years) CAP.
Jackson is in his prime, plays SG, can score, defend, and is a better playmaker than Brooks, Wafer, Shane, and Ron, and he's not over expensive at about 7.5 mill next year. Duhon is a decent young PG who could possibly beat Lowry (maybe even Brooks but doubtfull).
Curry has a bad contract and work etic but was reported to be returning to form. I think he could be good for us at the backup (but just never worth his pay).
This would be our rotation:
Brooks/Duhon/Lowry
Jackson/Ron/
Ron/Battier/White?
Scola/Landry/Hayes
Yao/Curry/Hayes or Dorsey?
We are better at evey position than the roster we started the playoffs with. We dont lose any of our contibuting players from last year and we save 4 mill.
LAC simply trades Baron (who doesnt fit) for MAG (proven to fit) plus a 2nd rounder.
GS clears their glut of wings, get rid of MAG for Baron (played great in GS and fills their PG need), get rid of Crawful for the lesser evil of Jaffries (GS saves 6.5 mill), and they get Mobley's instant savings for a 31 year old Jackson who's prime is being wasted and will be to old to be a part of their future movement. They also cut future salary.
NYK's trade Jeffries for the familiar Crawford (who has played well in NKC) and end up having............. OMG
60 million worth of expiring contracts after next season. They could sign Lebron and Bosh with change left over.

Re: Source: Knicks Inquire About T-Mac
Man, wtf does Curry's name always show up back on our roster?? =(
And why would the clips want Maggette back? Is that the rumor? I know they were trying to give Baron back.
Also, Jackson isn't bad. He's shown he can play in a slow tempo system (SA) and a fast one with GS. Doesn't he get paid a bunch though? Curry and Jackson would limit us in the future having to resign scola and brooks too. I'll pass on this crap.
I think it's more of a rumor to incite interest in Tmac. I'm pretty sure nothing's on the table, but if Curry's off the board, Knicks might want to trade the pick who knows.
