OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Probably the thing that pushed me into being one of McHale's most ardent defenders is because I think that the casual MIN fan (generally not the people I meet on these boards), blames every bad thing in the wolves past on McHale. I see him as easy scapegoat for two guys that sitting a a bar that just want to complain about the Wolves. I think McHale has made some mistakes, but he also had some great successes too, and that casual fans don't bother to look at the whole picture - the circumstances behind his career.
First, as I mentioned earlier, I went to Wolves games when we were truly awful. I sat in the Metrodome, and I watched 100% healthy teams consistently lose 60 games a year. Most of these losses weren't close -- we simply weren't a competitive basketball team. People like to say, "Oh, we were just a rebuilding team." How long does that excuse last? Seven years, and we were still losing 60? That's past my limit for excuses. We were getting lottery picks before McHale every year, and we wasted them on
1989 1.10 Timberwolves Pooh Richardson
1990 1.6 Timberwolves Felton Spencer
1991 1.7 Timberwolves Luc Longley
1992 1.3 Timberwolves Christian Laettner
1993 1.5 Timberwolves Isaiah Rider
1994 1.4 Timberwolves Donyell Marshall
.. people complaining about McCants' potential at 14, or gambling away a #26 pick on Ndudi Ebi need to know our pre-McHale history, and the truly negative impact that most of these guys had on the Timberwolves franchise.
That's who the Timberwolves were before McHale. People forget that.
