Amare for Big Al & #6 pick

WTH. I thought they fired McHale, why are they doing the same dumb **** trades? If this was a legit trade offer, I don't see why the Suns would think twice about it.

agreed. amare will perform similar to his former teamate marion after the trade, like an overpaid athlete aka kwame brown. without his height for rebounding (which he isnt even good at) and d'antoni play style amare is useless on the court.

I would love to see jefferson play in houston.

Even that this trade was reported shows how messed up the T wolves organization is. Like seriously kevin mchale is the worst GM in the world.

First I see Al Jefferson for Amare which is a bad trade straight up, then it sys the timberwolves would include the sixth overall pick. Wow just wow thats a gigantic rip off

Yeah, I kinda "whaaaaaaaaaaaat?"ed at it. It's not McHale though, it's David Kahn. McHale was relieved recently.

If this deal goes down, I wonder who's worse: David Kahn or Chris Wallace?

Kahn would be an early favorite. You can at least justify the Gasol/Brown trade (it's tricky, and I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but looking back, you can, unless you're Gregg Popovich - "San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was quoted by Sports Illustrated saying "What they did in Memphis is beyond comprehension. There should be a trade committee that can scratch all trades that make no sense. I just wish I had been on a trade committee that oversees NBA trades. I would have voted no to the LA trade."" - but Memphis really was bleeeding money and that helped solve the problem somewhat) and Gay Battier trade (scoring!!! + cheaper), but there's also Joe Johnson for Tony Delk and Rodney Rogers. I'd like to see a full list of his trades and transactions. It could run on Comedy Central at 9pm :)

Btw, http://www.nba.com/2009/news/06/17/mcha ... index.html

McHale is 100% gone from Minny.

Let's give a honorary clap for the man that gave major contracts to the likes of Marko Jaric, Troy Hudson and Mike James; had draft-day blunders like Ndudi Ebi, Rashad McCants and trading Brandon Roy for Randy Foye; and gave an illegal under-the-table deal to Joe Smith that ultimately cost the team three first-round draft picks.

I know I saw that. But what's this "the suns quickly turned it down." Strange, a steal like that wouldn't be quickly turned down. Would it? Maybe they know stuff that we don't but Shaq possibly leaving, picking up a big man down low (Al) would be huge. I don't know though, Suns have been on a bad streak lately.

Yeah, their "good gm" left for Toronto, but then mysteriously turned 100% ineffective. I'm confused.

Steve Kerr is an idiot if he turned it down
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Speaking of bad McHale signings...
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_d ... nba,171368

Sprewell's (who?) contract would have just been expiring.

On October 31, 2004, the Minnesota Timberwolves offered Sprewell a 3-year, $21 million contract extension, substantially less than what his then-current contract paid him. Insulted, he publicly vented his outrage, declaring, "I have a family to feed." He declined the extension, and, having once more drawn the ire of fans and sports media, had the worst season of his career in the final year of his contract. In the summer of 2005, the Nuggets, Cavs, and Rockets all expressed interest in signing Latrell Sprewell, however, none of those teams could reach an agreement with Sprewell.

One month into the 2005-06 season and without a contract, Sprewell's agent, Bob Gist, said his client would rather retire than play for the NBA minimum salary, telling Sports Illustrated, "Latrell doesn't need the money that badly. To go from being offered $7 million to taking $1 million, that would be a slap in the face." Several days later, Gist said that Sprewell planned to wait until "teams get desperate" around the trade deadline in February, and then sign with a contending team (an eventuality that never materialized). Gist said that Sprewell would not be interested in signing for any team's $5 million mid-level exception, calling that amount "a level beneath which [Sprewell] would not stoop or kneel!"

p.s. Both sprewell and his agent were blithering idiots as well. He was an inefficient 35 y/o undersized guard at the time!
