Grant Hill in Free Agency

Post#1 » by Hilltop » Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:09 pm

I apologize if this subject has already been discussed, or answered. If so, just redirect me to the proper thread or merge this.

Anyway, I was just curious as to what the Phoenix Suns' plans with Grant Hill were. He's a Free Agent, is it likely that he just re-signs? His contract doesn't seem to be one that is troublesome at all anyway.

Plan is to sign him to another 2 year (player option for year 2) whenever he gets back to the valley. His kids are already enrolled for the next school year here and he has said Phoenix is his last stop. Believe him.

Honestly, GHill might have earned his way out of PHX into a nice 2 year contract somewhere else. The guy was great last year, our best player at times.

he said he wants to stay here. Im fine with that especially when you have kids. Problem is, this team is on the verge of complete destruction and I think he might rethink his options here. I think if he wants a shot at a title, he needs to consider a better team. If he wants to keep him fam here, he could stay in the west and go to the lakers. Maybe go back east and if Orlando loses Hedo, maybe there. I could see Boston and Clev making a run at him too.

If he leaves, I would not be mad because he has been a professional and I respect him as a person and player. If a ring is his desire, then I think he should go.

I love Hill. Great player and great person. For these reasons I hope he stays...and for the same reasons I would totally accept it if he leaves for a contender. He deserves a ring as much as anyone else in the league.

Not to mention that the contract you guys have had him playing on was one hell of a bargain. I haven't seen that much production from so little a cost from many players. It's a rarity nowadays.

Let's clear this up once and for all:

Steve Kerr: “Grant is one of the most important members of our team and he isn’t going anywhere.”

Grant Hill, whose contract expired after the season, played in all 82 games for the first time in his injury-plagued, 15-year NBA career. He said he expects to re-sign with Phoenix.

"It feels like home," Hill said, "so hopefully we can work it out."

If Shaq stays, it increases the chances of Hill staying. Shaq and Hill are best friends.

I won't blame Hill if he chooses to leave, though. He deserves much better than this mess Kerr has created.

Nah. Hill didn't choose the Suns because of Shaq. I would think Gentry has more a pull on him then Shaq.

Agreed, he actually made a comment at one point to that effect as I recall.

That would be quite a one-two punch :-?

Grant Hill will stay with the Suns for the obvious our training staff is very good with players like Grant Hill who was injury prone on other teams. If Grant leaves he would most likely go to another team and end up with an injury whereas if he stays the Suns trainers will work their magic and work to limit his injuries. I just can't seem him leave because he knows without the medical staff he will get an injury and be out half season so that is why I hardly doubt he is leaving and also the Suns are not blowing things up they can't afford to do that no one is going to show up to watch the games then look at the coyotes they blew up their team and haven't been to the playoffs since its not happening so all you called Suns fans that like trading Amare need to stop with the garbage already your the same ones that wanted Shawn Marion gone its time for the Suns to take responsibility for Amare they never bench his butt when he under performed and so now they need to do it the right see how he plays the first half the season its a contract year I guarauntee that after this season begins all you trade AMARE fans won't wanna trade him .

kerr can guarantee all he likes, but when hill is an unrestricted FA nothing is for certain

i think he stays and i know he wants to stay, but nothing is for sure.....

imagine the lakers lose ariza and offer hill twice what were paying to play SF on a champion team to get a ring and be 1 hour from his family in phoenix while the suns rebuild?

would be tempting

He didn't come to Phx for the money. If that was his motivation he could had signed for more elsewhere.

I think he was pertaining to the lure of title contention more than anything, the extra pay was just the icing on the cake.

ORL probably holds some appeal for him after their Finals berth.
