If ifs and buts were candy and nuts and we played the Padres 162 times a year, we'd make 2001 look like a rebuilding year.

Whoever made the schedule up had to be a Mariner fan. To get the likes of San Diego (6 times?), Arizona and San Fran is almost too good to be true, throw in a weak division they're in to start with. We'll take 100 of these type wins but let's be serious these teams are atrocius.

I think along with a few pitching finds out of the pen Gutierrez is the best story of the year.

No sweep. They certainly had their chances to win this one. Needed their bats to come through with a run or two in either the 7th, 8th, 9th, or 10th inning. No such luck. Breaking the .500 barrier again since they fell below it a month or so ago has proven to be quite difficult for them. They either have to win 3 in a row right away, or 5 out of the next 6 games on this upcoming 6 game homestand to get back above that level now. The schedule then gets quite formidable for them.
