another victory!

Post#1 » by LAKESHOW » Thu Jun 18, 2009 6:13 am

Sales from the NBA Store in New York City and on NBAStore.com reveal that the Lakers obliterated the previous 48-hour record for championship merchandise sales. In fact, Lakers fans bought so much gear that league officials said that sales doubled the record that was previously held by last year's Boston Celtics.

Ya but do you realize that the Lakers get JACKED on those sales.
Jeanie Buss was talking about that yesterday, she said that well over half of those sales go to the NBA and they actually have to share the sales with every team in the league.
She also said that both teams in the finals also recieve money that both teams makes at the door, so lets say if we had 19k people attend the games and 17k in Orlando the Lakers lose on both ends.
Also the fact that since the final games are Televised by Channel 7 and ESPN then our local FSN and Channel 9 loses a lot of money.

Damn tony, the hard facts hurts huh. I didn't know everything is so shared amongst the league. I would have thought that we were raking in a lot of money but i guess not that much.

Not at all brah, in fact its a bum deal for any successful franchise since your basically supporting other teams with your success that are unsuccessful, for example according to Lakshows post we double sales from last years finals in a crappy market we are facing these days. Imagine Laker fans bought all these goodies to support their team as a fan and our money is going to Clippers Indiana and every team in the league. As a fan your supporting your team not realizing that your actually supporting all these other teams at the sametime. :-?
