Question about Rubio and the Suns

Post#1 » by BertMacklin » Fri Jun 19, 2009 7:42 pm

Have any of the managers or Kerr ever talked about having interest in Rubio? I know we have Dragic as back up but lets just face it who knows if he'll be any better than last season. Rubio would be the PERFECT fit for the Suns just because he loves to run and thats his style. I would love to have him sooooo much. Would there ever be a chance in hell we would trade up for him? :D

I wouldn't mind Rubio but I'd rather have Jennings, Holiday or Evans before him. Rubio is 4th on my list of pg's but if the Suns can somehow land Rubio i'd be happy.

As for Kerr and Suns management I don't think they ever mentioned anything about Rubio unless their keeping it secret.

Did anyone read that story on ESPN about Nash meeting Kerr in NY and saying he wont sign unless Shaq is gone? Thought that was odd, but the weird thing is it got taken down already. IMO I think Rubio is awesome and I hope we try to take a shot at him if not I hope if he ends up anywhere its OKC.

We currently don't have a top 5 pick, how are we going to get Rubio?

We trade for it. I'd do a shaq trade for a top 5 pick straight up.

Yeah salaries don't match up for that. Use the espn trade tracker and come back with a reasonable trade possibility.

Who would actually consider Shaq for a top five pick or even a first round pick (in addition to the other team giving up matching salaries). I am not sure anyone gives us a 1st round pick, except maybe Cleveland as part of a Shaq/Wallace/filler trade. Assuming we could get Cleveland's first round pick, would anyone trading ahead of us trade our 14th pick/Cleveland's pick to move up to have a chance at Jennings/Flynn/Rubio?

Just not feasible. We'd have to trade Amare and possibly Barbosa to get a top 3 pick.

The thing about Nash and Shaq was in the Arizona Republic.

yeah but how does it actually get to there? Either Kerr/Nash/his agent have loose lips, or someone is making it up

I don't see them being THAT unprofessional...so i think it's made up

Yeah its a possibility and could be the reason why it was taken down from espn so fast.

Actually I found it here

Dan Bickley of The Arizona Republic: "Shaquille O'Neal takes nothing seriously. It's his blessing and his curse. It's why he can entertain millions of fans with his comedy, dancing and critical observations. It's why he can miss more than 5,100 free throws in his career and never win a rebounding title. It's part of the reason why Steve Nash met with general manager Steve Kerr in New York on Thursday, as the point guard wants some roster assurances before moving forward with a contract extension. The problem isn't a personality clash. It's that Nash and O'Neal can't co-exist on the court. You could not piece together a worse combination to defend the pick-and-roll, one of the most elementary plays in the NBA. It's one of the glaring flaws in this basketball team, and for that and other reasons, O'Neal must be traded in the coming months. When it happens, you wonder what he'll type next. ... Trading Shaq can and should work for everybody. In Phoenix, there will be some addition by subtraction. And in the tough-luck town of Cleveland, fans are already atwitter with new hope. Just wait until the big guy wants his touches."

Dan Bickleys an idiot.

^ so somehow Kerr visiting Nash in NY somehow translates to Nash not resigning if Shaq remains on the team?

There is NO WAY IN HELL Nash is that unreasonable and unprofessional, so that's either made up, or it's made up. + We all know there's more than one reasonable deal to be made where we can get rid of Shaq (Cle, Noh) so if it was really the case, Shaq would be gone by now. I really want to do the Cle deal though, especially if they add one or both of Hickson + 30th (Although I'd of course much rather have Hickson unless Danny Green is on the board at 30).

Its made up BS that some stupid writer assumed. I think Nash would stay if they are planning on keeping key players like amare, barbs, maybe hill and try to bring in another player or two. If they have other plans, I think nash wants out. Simple as that and at his age and what he has done, why go through a rebuild process?

Bickley is a bigger idiot than Gambo and ash times two. I cant stand that moron.

I think the suns would be interested in Rubio, but I think Sarver wants to take a chance on Tragic as PG. He thinks he was the 2nd best PG in last years draft. So I really can’t imagine what Kerr thinks of this draft this year.

Return to Phoenix Suns
