Scottie was one of the 50 greatest players of all time, Ariza is a great role player on a squad where he is the 4th or 5th opition. I love Trevor but Scottie he is not.

A big plus for Ariza is that so far he has the right attitude. He is a great 5t option for the Lakers.

LO is the perfect team player and the best 3rd option in the league! Please get him signed before we talk about Ariza Mitch.

That being said Ariza has all the tools needed to develop into a Battier, Prince, Bowen type of player.

The only thing that Ariza has done where he hasnt been the perfect teammate is call Sasha "Vujabitch" and start a fight. I'm w/ Phil, that was so creative I'm not even mad about it.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

I don't see Ariza ever being as great a defender as Battier or Bowen. Their defense is based on footwork, and Intelligent reading of their own man's inclinations. Ariza is based mostly on gambling like AI .He It would be a mistake to overpay Ariza. I would consider a sign and trade for two veterans who have high IQ's and great defensive awareness.

Same thoughts here. Unfortunately, the fans are in love with Ariza. I think we would still be just as good with veterans with high IQ.

Ariza is Kobe's Pippen in terms of allowing Kobe to not have to guard the opponents best wing player, thus conserving Kobe's energy for the offensive end and decreasing the chances of Kobe getting injured and increasing the chances of Kobe having a long career. Thats why it is imperative that the Lakers resign Ariza. Odom and Ariza combine to make one Pippen if you will (in terms of being initiator and defender). The Lakers might be able to get Kidd for the vet minimum, which could be a replacement for Odom as the initiator.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
