18 and 28 for 13 what player would it take

Post#1 » by 8305 » Sat Jun 20, 2009 11:34 am

Following is a list of players likely available at 13. Do any of them make enough sense for Minn to justify the exchange of picks?

DeJaun Blair, Earl Clark, Brandon Jennings, James Johnson. Pretty good chance none would be there at 18.

Earl Clark but I'm not sure he would actually be there at 13.

Austin Daye is a guy I can see developing nicely in 2-3 years and would be willing to roll the dice. Since we have a team that does need time, it's a great fit. We need the length and athleticism. I'm not into the Earl Clark hype.

Gerald Henderson, Earl Clark or Jonny Flynn if he made it that far, which I doubt. Whoever it is, they better be able to come play right away. IF those kind of guys are gone we are better off holding on to 18 and 28. Hopefully we can trade up even higher than that though.

Clark, Daye, Mullens, Casspi, one of the PG's. Those are the prospects I like and Clark or maybe a PG that slips (or someone that slips) are the only ones to trade up for. The others could easily be at 18 and I don't like reacing. Absolutely No Blair. Unless we trade half our PF's there is no fit.

EDIT: and no thanks to Henderson. Just not a fan.

I'd like williams or Clark....but It all depends who mn drafts first. I think clark goes @11 fairly easily to nj or GSW. Williams is also a guy I love, but again think he goes to NJ or gsw.

Williams would be a great pickup if we go with a pg @6. Clark is a great pickup to run alongside al/love regardless.

Yeah I know I get that idea shot down a ton. I just don't understand why ppl are so against him. He is so polished already, super athlete, good defender and good teammate, there just can't be that much against him. Some team who doesn't dislike him will get a very good 2-guard in this draft. He will come in immediately and play well. Mark my words! :)

If we took a PG with our first pick, I wouldn't hate Henderson at 18, but I'd prefer taking Mullens and trying to develop him if he's there. I don't trade up for anyone but Clark, or if we went SG with our first pick, one of the PGs. No Daye, even at 18 please.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

If we could walk away from this draft with Tyreke Evans(6) and Brandon Jennings(13) I would call the draft a huge success.

Jennings/Bassy
Evans/Foye
Miller/Brewer
Love/Smith
Jefferson

Trade some combo of Foye/Miller/Gomes/Cardinal for a good 3 and roll with it.

I'd love a draft of Evans and Clark. The pick and role options would be lovely, as well as the length and size added to the team.

I like the way you think. I have a man-crush on Henderson.

Clark, Jennings, Lawson, or Holiday would do it for me

Terrence Williams all the way if he's there. Whoever lands him is going to be very pleased.
I would much rather have him in our 2-3 rotation than guys like Gomes and Carney.

Ooh, I'd forgotten about T-Will.

Clark and Williams would be my top two choices, depending on who we get at #6.

I think the Wolves should trade 18/28 for the 13 regardless of who was available, it'd give them a good excuse to get rid of that 28 pick and save 400k. I'd be on board too, those 5 spots could be critical if you're talking about the top 13 as Griffin/Rubio/Thabeet/Evans/Derozan/Harden/Curry/Flynn/Jennings/Hill/Henderson/Daye/Lawson or switch in Holiday if you please. You could make a strong argument that Maynor/Teague/Blair/J.Johnson/T.Williams/Clark belong in that conversation and that it's no big deal to pick 18 vs 13, and I'd agree w/ that from a talent standpoint, but it'd give us more flexibility to make sure we're also fitting a positional need and BPA to pick at 13. If we take a SG for example at 6, we don't want Henderson at 18. If we take a PG at 6, Lawson is less attractive at 18.
