Prime Kobe or Prime Gasol/Worthy

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Sun Jun 21, 2009 3:42 am

Figure I would use Lakers players that were great and who were all allstars.

Which would you rather have to start your team?

Prime Kobe or Prime Gasol/Worthy

It's more or less starting a franchise, so basically you are starting a franchise knowing that either is your only affirmatives.

Mr. JordansBulls, what do you mean by Gasol/Worthy?

Are you saying who I'd start a franchise with... a prime Kobe or prime Gasol and Worthy?

Yes basically would you rather start a franchise knowing you have Kobe for sure and not knowing what else you will have with him or with Gasol and Worthy and not knowing what else is around them?

this is a tough one. Both Kobe AND Gasol never lost with HCA as the 1st option.

Gasol is the only one who hasn't lost with HCA period. Not sure what that has to do with the thread.

2004 he has (he finished higher in MVP voting and led in win shares in the season. His win shares was higher in the playoffs until the finals where he started to get negative win shares), but that has nothing to do with the thread.

HCA as the 1st option has everything to do with it. Greatness is determined by it.

Kobe was not the 1st option on the Lakers when Shaq was around.

In 2003 and 2004 he was. He finished higher in MVP voting and win shares in the season. In 2004 his win shares started to go negative once LA made the finals because of his overall performance.

Why the hell are you trying to hijack the thread?

Irrelevant. Shaq was clearly the 1st option on that team. Gasol has more Win Shares than Kobe this year. Your point is mute.

What hijack? According to the criteria, losing with HCA as the 1st option is very damaging to their greatness and vital to if I want to start my franchise with a player that can lose with HCA as my 1st option. But Kobe and Gasol doesn't have that problem. The criteria also stress not getting swept as the 1st option. So I guess I'll choose Kobe but it was a difficult choice.

Not really!! When was Worthy the #1 option and lost with HCA? It doesn't matter if you are the #1 option when losing with HCA because you already lost with it.

Incorrect. According to the criteria, losing with HCA as the 1st option is what's truly significant. Worthy wouldn't be the 1st option with Gasol on the team.

So Gasol > Worthy is that what you are saying?

I guess that could be reasonable.

Here's a better question Mr. JordansBulls, would you start a franchise with Michael Jordan or Gasol/Worthy.

I'm of the belief that Worthy would be about the equivalent of Antoine Walker in this era. I'd actually rather have Odom.

Now if you asked me who I'd rather start out a franchise with, Kobe or Gasol/Odom, well, with Kobe, I'd probably be in the lottery, which gives me a high chance to pick a guy of Odom's caliber, in which case, I'd go with Kobe.
