Draft
#2 - Thabeet
#6 - Evans
#10 - Clark

Thabeet-Jefferson
Jefferson-Smith
Clark-Gomes-Brewer
Foye-Miller-Brewer
Evans-Ridnour

I sure hope we don't get Thabeet at 2 when Rubio or Harden would be available.

The reality is revolves around Rubio being the clear #2 player, BUT, it still comes down to how Memphis handles the situation. They have Conley(PG) and Mayo (PG/SG) already, and glaring need is PF/C ... I'm not sure this draft fills there need either way.

1.) Draft the Rube and trade Conley.
2.) Stick it out with Conley (who's very capable) and take advantage of the best offers for the #2 pick.
3.) Trade the pick outright in a package for an established PF.

The first option appears to be the least logical for them, and I'm pretty sure they will work options 2 and 3. Bosh/Toronto, Smith/Atlanta, Jamison/Washington, and possibly Love/Minnesota are all options if they prefer an established player.

Kahn wants to make a splash ??? If that is a true statement, then Rubio will be a Timberwolf.

I agree (not so much with Harden though). I feel the only way Rubio is not a Timberwolf is if Memphis drafts him or we feel we can't get him signed for whatever reason.

Barring any trades, I'd be happy with this lineup

evans #6
Teague #18
Brown #28

I think there's going to be a trade --- but, If we stay put think we are going for Daye and one of Evans/Flynn/Curry

I agree with you. I'm not saying that's what I would do - just trying to guess what the braintrust will do.

#2
#27 or #35

Love
#18 or #28

I think that's very fair; #2 and #27 for Love and #18.

I think Love will get moved for the #2 since didn't Kahn say that Love is a 4th option on a championship team; well we need a 1 or 2 option to pair with Jefferson and we could possibly get that at #2 overall

Love would be the #3 or #4 option on Memphis, and it would suit him perfectly. He'd be able to grab a ton of rebounds for Memphis, which they desperately need and he is willing and able to play without the ball on offense (he would create tons of room for gay and mayo) and be that #3 or #4 guy (since they don't want a player that demands the ball, since they already have mayo and gay; and a lot of lottery picks need the ball to be successful but Love doesn't).

Thus this is a win-win situation for both teams.

Which is why it would be gratuitous to drop from 18 to 27 at the same time.

Not really. skorff made some good points as to why that would not be the case. It's not like I said Love/#18 (or even worse #6) for just the #2.

Then again, it could end up being the #5 and #6 for #2. Credit to mogroupleader from the "main" Grizzlies board for providing the link.

That story is ridiculous. If Kahn traded the 5 and 6 for the 2, he would need to be tossed in the looney bin.

It might be, but I was thinking
-Love for Rubio, wouldn't be enough for Memphis to do it, Love would be a better fit but Rubio has more value
-Love, #6 for Rubio, was too much for us to include

-so I thought a compromise would be the best situation, and the 18 for 27 swap would do the trick IMO

-Actually after thinking about the trade, I'd almost want to get Buckner back as well (buckner, #2, #27 for Love, #18, B. Brown) since we could trade buckner and his partially guaranteed contract to someone for a pick in the teens (Milwaukee, Washington, Charlotte, Phoenix, Detroit, Chicago, or New Orleans) might have some interest in trading their pick for immediate cap relief as well and then we would still have a pick in the teens and we could package 27 and 28 and move up as well.

What are the odds that we end up having 10 different picks at some point on draft night?

#6, #18, #28, #45, #47

Love/Brown/18 for 2/27/Buckner, thats 7.

Miller + crap to Wash for #5 + crap, thats 8

Buckner's guaranteed contract for a late teen's pick, thats 9.

27/28 for a pick near the 20's

I mean its not likely, but good grief.

They would have to start calling us the Minnesota Trailblazers if we were in that many trades at draft day.

Seriously. When is there going to be a trade rumor in our favor?

Two picks I think we'll end up with...

Rubio... the talking seems to be heating up. He's the real Tostito.
Daye... some length as a combo SF/PF has value - we NEED length.

I'm guessing that's all who will be calling Minnesota "home".
