Adam Morrison

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Sun Jun 21, 2009 4:38 am

I was searching on Wiki so I'm posting a few blurbs about Adam Morrison I wasn't aware of, or had forgotten (3rd overall). Kimmel joked during the LAL appearance on the show that Adam was "baked", didn't he get busted for smoking pot at one point in his career?

It's odd that Morrison was rattled being in Charlotte and all the pressure. I can understand that sure, but he was national player of the year runner up to JJ Redick for a few years they were going crazy ballin' and it was big pressure then as well and he performed beautifully.

It's also odd that Luke "I'll break your ankles" Iverson was the one that caused Adam's knee to buckle ending his season before it even started (preseason).

Morrison was selected 3rd overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats, behind Andrea Bargnani (Toronto Raptors) and LaMarcus Aldridge (Chicago Bulls). On July 6, 2006, the Bobcats signed Morrison to a two-year contract. On November 1, 2006 in his NBA debut against the Indiana Pacers he scored 14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. He was the first player picked by "Manager of Basketball Operations" Michael Jordan in his tenure with the Bobcats. He scored his career high on December 30, 2006 with 30 points in a win against the Indiana Pacers. However, Morrison lost his starting spot midway through the season, in part for his defense and shooting only 37% for the year.[6]

On October 21, 2007, the Charlotte Bobcats announced that Morrison had sustained a severe injury to his left knee in a pre-season exhibition game against the L.A. Lakers while defending Luke Walton, bending his knee laterally and falling to the ground in pain. An MRI scan performed after the game indicated a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).[7][8] On November 10 Morrison underwent surgery to repair the damage. The injury was confirmed to be a torn ACL requiring several months of physical therapy after the knee has healed, meaning he missed the whole 2007-08 NBA season.

On February 7, 2009, Adam Morrison, along with Shannon Brown, was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vladimir Radmanović.[9] Bobcat coach Larry Brown reported that the main reason Morrison was traded was that he could not handle the pressure associated with being chosen third overall and as such he did not want to stay in Charlotte. Brown said other factors such as a Bobcat glut at the guard and small forward positions and recovery from a knee injury were secondary to how expectations "rattled" Morrison.[10]

Trade Sasha before he ruins the Lakers next season.

I think he should be put into the regular rotation at some point next year with LA assuming he doesn't get shipped in some deal. He may be a bust but I have not forgotten his game at all. The man was a straight baller for Gonzaga. He was compared to Larry Bird at the time which was some (Please Use More Appropriate Word) observations. Such as Rubio and Pistol Pete comparisons. But he did have game, he was a great shooter. He found ways to put the ball in the basket while in school.

Pressure? Their should be zero pressure on him next year. I wanna see what he can do before I call in LA to ship his ass out.

I don't know...

I just have this feeling that Ammo is going to be on our team next season, but Sasha isn't...

And we're all going to be talking about what an improvement over Sasha he is.

I'm all for trading him but I just wonder if there isn't a plan in place for him now that Sasha is basically worthless.

He seriously can't be any worse...

I remember hearing a lot about Adam Morrison. Apparently he's the only player in the NBA who constantly smokes cigarettes and has chewing tobacco.

If there is a system in the NBA within which a player like Morrison can shine, it is the triangle offense. We might have a sleeper on our team, guys.

I knew Radmanovic was a smoker but don't remember anything regarding Morrison.

Adam Morrison is the most rigid, awkward-looking, nonathletic guy in the NBA. He's like Radmanovic, except his inflexibility is due to his body and not his heart.

He was in college, too, but he still scored with the best of them. I'm just saying, if he's going to break out on a competitive level in the NBA, this offense would be his best shot.
