If Bynum were a FA?

Post#1 » by Warhammer3025 » Sun Jun 21, 2009 10:14 pm

Hello, Laker fan here.

With OKC in the mmidst of rebuilding that means you guys would have a huge amount of cap space, enough for a max FA. So as the topic asks, if Andrew Bynum were a FA would you guys be heavily pursueing him? And if so, how much do you think you guys would offer? And if you guys do get him how would you spend the rest of your cap to fill out your team? I know you guys have Krstic who is a solid C, but Bynum when healhty and his potential would be huge. Also you guys upfront are thin with i think just Wilcox and Collison who are barely starter quality players. By grabbing Bynum it'll shore up your frontcourt in a huge way.

Being a young true C, i'm rather curious at thet ype of interest he may garner from one of hte main FA competitors out there.

We no longer have Wilcox.

Bynum hmmmm. I think he has the most value to his current team. He's been injured 2 consecutive years and hardly played. I would be hesitant in offering him the farm. maybe a 3yr 25 mill deal. Not keen on offering a bigman who is yet t stay healthy more thean 3 years.

But hey, that's just me.

3 years 25 mil? Wow, when dudes like Chandler, Dalembert, and Dampier get 10+ mil contracts and all you're willing to give to Bynum is that paltry sum it really goes to show you've got zero faith in him staying healthy. So far he's already shown he can give greater defensive and offensive impact than those aforementioned players when he's healthy.

Yep you got me in 1. :D

If he can defiantly stay healthy I'd gladly give him, 12 per for 5 years (60 for 5). but I really have issues about his health.

Honestly I'm glad he isn't a free agent. I wanted the Sonics to draft him when he came out but he went before the Sonics had the chance to.

However It's nice to see the Lakers over paying for his services. You really think in 2012/13 that the Lakers are going to pay him 16.4mil with the team option they have on him?

After making a run for Chandler (who has had injury problems himself), I have to think the Thunder would of had serious interest in Bynum. If he ever reached his potential w/ the Thunder, him and Durant would be a great duo.
