Horford would've gone #1

in this years draft. Do you take Griffin over Horf? Not me.

If you agree, seems to put off trading one of our core for a pick type deal; even if it's a top pick.

Smoove, Horford and MW are very good players. they're only 23 and need better coaching. If the ASG would just spend a little (maneuver contracts), this team can make some noise.

Miller is a FA. His skills would be invaluable as a back up C. Add a tough; strong PF and our front court becomes a force.

Replace Bibby with a quality, traditional type PG, like Sessions.

JJ is the BIG ? . What are we willing to give him to re-sign, if he goes what can we get back (deadline S&T).

It would be so much fun to be Sund this year. of course, the ASG will have a lot to say about the outcome and Sund'll get ripped no matter what, but the potential is there to build a great team.

are there any SG's out there that can do what joe does? i mean the guy is top 5 in the NBA. i doubt we are gonna get the top 4 SG's. he hasn't lost a step yet either.

i've always been a fan of making your best player your fifth best. if joe is the best right now. then for us to be better, you make him the fifth best. for us that means making horford, smith, williams, and the point guard better than joe. right now josh has almost surpassed him and al and marvin are on their way. if we can make it so that we don't have to depend on joe but still have him around to score his 20, then we will be legit contenders.

long story short, i'd keep him.

Brad Miller, just checked, he has one year left. He was an example.

What about the Horf at #1 idea?

i seriously doubt the ASG or Sund thought about trading horford or anybody else for the #1 let alone number 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17 or 18 pick. it would take a faceplant of drastic proportions for them to consider dealing.

Horford is not worth the #1 pick. THis isn't the same question as whether he would go #1 in this draft. When you draft someone you get 4 years of their services on a rookie scale contract before they hit FA. With Horford you have just 2 years before he becomes a free agent.

ok, if we warp time and they're in the same draft:

1 is a 2 time NCAA champ at PF and the other is a statistical marvel with high points and rebounds. I think Griffin gets the edge as the #1 pick in that scenario because of the individual production he's had. Horford would have gone high in this draft as well. Probably 2nd to Memphis because of fit.

I think the point of the original post wasn't that we could trade for a high pick, but rather that he's happy with Horford and doesn't want to knee jerk react and trade him like has been suggested on many a thread.

I would have to agree here. Horford should not be traded from here.

He is needed at the 4 or 5 at this point. We need to get him help in the post.

Griffin goes #1 over Al pretty easily I think. That isn't a knock on Al, but Griffin showed a real knack for putting the ball in the hoop which Al never really did and while Al was a very good rebounder, Blake was a dominant one.
