No. The list of PG's Calderon can't guard is far too long. Plus, Rondo's better.

Re: TOR / BOS
Actually I think Calderon would fit into our "TEAM" d-fence better than Rondo does. Jose doesn't take the risks that Rondo does and Jose is just as feisty as Rondo is, IMO. Offensively Jose would also fit our team very well, IMO. Honestly I like the trade. Calderon's contract going for 5 years is my only concern.

Re: TOR / BOS
Jose can't stay in front of his man. He's extremely unathletic and doesn't have any instincts on that side of the ball. Just look at how good Toronto is at defense...Just imagine him trying to stay in front of Rose. We'd have lost in 4 games with Jose running the show

Sonic, do you understand the concept of team defense? Toronto had no concept of it, nor did they have the coach or players that demanded it. I'm not saying Calderon is a great defensive player. But your saying that he can't even keep his man in front of him. That's just wrong!

Re: TOR / BOS
Calderon is a great offensive threat and player maker but I agree with Sonic about thinking Rondo has more tools to stay in from of his man then Calderon does.
I think we learned in the Play-offs that the Celtics front line is too thin ( even with Powe and Garnett, looking for a shot blocker/intimidator here ) to let our entire players pick up fouls/hoops because the guards get easy penetration to the hoop.
In a Team Defense concept, I think you would only decide to let someone penetrate if you have a great shot blocker(s) behind you, daring them to penetrate.
Who do you see at 9 that will help the C's that much anyway? There doesnt seem to be alot of interior defenders there, so I'm assuming you looking at a PG/Sg SF with that pick?

I do think Rondo has the tools to keep his man in front of him. He chooses not to use them. If he's traded probably one of the reasons why. I think from a BB-IQ Calderon is superior to Rondo. This also combats your point about our front line getting in foul trouble. Calderon would keep his man in front of him. At #9 I'm not sure. The rumors about T.Evans. I personelly like Gerald Henderson to help our back court depth.

He couldn't keep Scal in front of him. Go ask anyone on the Toronto boards. Some even have sigs with a list of players he got destroyed by. With the amount of good PG's in the league, we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot.
No matter what we say, Rondo is still a better player.

How would you of ranked PP, and Ray Allen's defense before they starting playing with KG?

Re: TOR / BOS
No thanks to Calderon. Tommy wants to break his fingers every time he does his gesture after a made 3-pointer. Dude wouldn't make it out of training camp.
Seriously, Calderon is a nice player. However, I'm not sold on his ability to pressure the ball, nor would I be a fan of watching pick-and-rolls run everytime down the court. I'm also not sold on his ability to improvise off of a broken play, where he's able to penetrate, make the defense collapse, then create an easy shot. Again, he's a nice PG, but he's a little too conservative for my liking.

Cbreath your making trade ideas like you're my son. I've just got to check if you are. Do you look like a handsome man with dark hair and glasses or Heidi Klum?

Sorry not handsome. Love the Celtics though. As well as trades. So were like blood brothers or something.

Re: TOR / BOS
He would be a good fit offensively, but like others have said his lack of D just doesn't make it worth it. We can find a better offer for Rondo if we really were to get rid of him I am quite sure.

Don't like your pick-n-roll comment. We do that a lot already, and if were winning championships and your a true Celtics fan than why does it matter. When I think of Calderon on this team I think of a Steve Nash type presence but with the defense guys behind him. So all Calderon has to do is keep his man in front of him. I think he can do that.

I know Mike Gorman loves Calderon. Not sure if he would trade Rondo for him, but I wish they could of asked him on CSL yesterday.

No matter what ANYONE says, if the C's had this deal on the board, they would do it FOR SURE. They give Rondo + garbage for Calderon AND the 9th. Yeah, it's a weak draft, but theres SO much potential in some of these players. For example, Earl Clark, Evans, Derozan. If any of those guys falls to 9 and you pick them, you get Caldy + Derozan, look at the team now..
Cald/Marbs/House
Allen/House/Derozan
Pierce/Derozan/Walker
KG/Powe/BigBaby
Perkins/BigBaby
not that bad at all.. teams cant double off of calderon and give him the open shot anymore, so theres another offensive threat. gotta look at it that way.

And Calderon would be a much better defender on the C's then he was with Toronto. Not as good a Rondo but pretty good. Bet he wouldn't let our bigs get into foul trouble, and holy **** could make more that 65% of his free throws. WOW!
