Let's talk earl clark...

Post#1 » by the_bruce » Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:44 pm

I think most posters are in agreement that @6 MN will get a solid building piece. Disregarding all of the heavily talked about trading deals like the #5 or Rubio, or love. I'm fairly confident the wolves can work a solid deal out for the #5, but what about my boy Earl Clark. He's been tearing apart workouts and I don't think there is any possible way he falls to #18. I also think there is a solid chance NJ takes him @11 so getting to the pacers pick won't do much in getting him. I think the ideal partner would be MIL.

Does anyone have any newish ideas in nabbing my boy Clark? I feel he is a great compliment to love/al as he gives some additional length and weakside shot blocking ability, can play with both or alternate in @ the 4. He's pretty high on my board somewhere around 5-7 depending on my mood.

I think many of us like him a lot, especially if we're playing Jefferson and Love together. Why not trade for the 11 with NJ if he's still there? As you mentioned, MIL works too.

Especially since I take Clark over someone like Daye 100/100 times.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I heavily endorse a stay @ 6 and trade up for Clark scenario. 18+ Foye for Toronto's 9 + filler anyone?

I don't think he deserves quite as much praise as he gets here on our board but he'd still be worth a look if we could package a couple things to move up into his range. The thing is, I think it all depends on what we do earlier in the first round.

If we trade Love and end up getting Thabeet(not likely) and pick up a pick in the 10-12 range do we then look at someone like Jennings/Henderson/Holiday/DeRozan? I think I'd rather have any of these players than Clark but that's just me.

Or, if we keep our #6 pick, I think any guy we draft barring Thabeet dropping...(evans, harden, curry) and we definitely look at Clark if we could get the necessary pick to do so.

If we trade the #6 pick with an acquired #5 pick to get Rubio Clark would be an option again later but I'd like Henderson or DeRozan more.

I think for the most part, if it's going to take a pick in the 10-12 range to get Clark, I'd like a few players in that range better than him.

Works for me. Or 18 + Telfair for 10 + Ridnour

Ya peedee and c.lupus I think the most likely scenario is where we keep the #6 pick is also the scenario that makes the most sense to get Clark.

NJ could be a good trading partner.

18 + Foye(local guy) for 11 + s.Williams(defense/rim protector)

Maybe...

28 + 18 + Foye for 11 + Yi

The problem with nj is the contracts they have suck for trading. Everyone hates yi & williams so that doesn't ever help.

If we can trade up to around #10 to get Clark, I'd be highly in favor of it. He's a good pick and roll guy, and versatile/long enough to play the 3 or 4.
