Boston - Minnesota trade rumor

Post#1 » by cpfsf » Mon Jun 22, 2009 5:13 pm

http://blogs2.startribune.com/blogs/wolves/2009/06/20/musings/

There’s another trade rumor floating out there seemingly even more far-fetched than the Al and No. 6 to Phoenix for Amare: This one says the Wolves send Mike Miller, Randy Foye and Ryan Gomes to Boston for Ray Allen. Since Kahn lamented Friday how nobody in the media business calls anymore for confirmation and denial of such rumors, I texted Kahn about this one and asked if there was possibly any truth to it. He sent back a one word answer: “No.” Good.

Swedish forward Jonas Jerebko is scheduled for a workout Sunday. He’d be a favorite for that 28th pick if the Wolves keep him because the long, tough, athletic forward could stay in Europe for a season or two and not sign immediately with the Wolves.

Obviously I'm a bit more interested in the Jonas Jerebko statement. I still think it's more likely we'll trade the pick though.

It came from Celticsblog.com

I'm sure most of the guys there are good writers and it's just one bad banana spreading crap.

Why the Strib even reguritated it tells you how worthless our own primary MN newspaper has become. We have some $hitty writers too. lol

It really doesn't matter but Celticsblog.com references the Startribune link. It came from a writer at the Startribune.

The link is posted above by the OP.

This is what is posted at Celticsblog:

Another Rumor, Another Denial
by Jeff Clark on Jun 22, 2009 7:36 AM EDT in Rumors 35 comments

Here's one from a Star Tribune blog (Minn. paper)

He sent back a one word answer:

"No."

Good.

Now that's a deal I could support, but of course it doesn't sound likely.

By the way, Good Luck to you Wolves fans because I have a feeling your GM is going to be very active on draft night. Hope everything turns out well. :D

I think we can all agree that many sportwriters are terrible at their jobs. Many can't write, and they certainly don't "report" a whole lot that's "news."

Especially around draft time. Probably about 5% of what is reported is true.

Thanks, we have our fingers crossed, well most of us, some are doing some other quite bizarre luck rituals that I can't go into detail on. Just stear clear of certain posters and their residences come draft day....

Otherwise, we are fairly certain something will happen and can only hope it is for the best and not a move to say we made a move....

It's exciting and scary at the same time. Your new GM seems like he has a good head on his shoulders I'm sure he will do fine. Have fun and like I said best wishes.

So if a Strib writer mentions a rumor floating around thanks to (presumably) some Celtics beat writer(s) it is now sourced with the Strib? lol That's exactly what I'm talking about.

Thanks C17P, I'd wish you guys good luck too but we already traded it all to Beantown.
At least we know it works. :sigh:
