Caron Butler ..LOL!

Possible trade options the Wolves have in obtaining Caron Butler

Mike Miller would have to be involved in any deal the Wolves make with the Wizards to obtain Butler. Both Butler and Miller almost have identical contracts except Miller's expires after this season making him very attractive to teams looking to free up cap space like the Wizards. Miller is also attractive because he can help out almost every team in the NBA with his ability to shoot. While Miller is no Caron Butler, he would still help keep the Wizards competitive over in the East for the 09/10 season. If the Wolves were to obtain the 5th pick, I think Randy Foye would be on his way out. The Wolves could then use the 5th and 6th picks to completely rebuild their backcourt. In a weak draft, the 5th pick does not do the Wizards much good as they are playoff team as is, injuries just killed them last year. It would make more sense for them to obtain a NBA proven guard like Foye rather than gamble on a rookie.

Scenario 1) With the Wizards 5th pick

Wizards trade F Caron Butler, G Jarvaris Crittenton and 5th overall pick

Timberwolves trade F Mike Miller, G Randy Foye and 18th overall pick

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scenario 2) Without the Wizards 5th pick

Wizards trade F Caron Butler

Timberwolves trade F Mike Miller and 18th overall pick

Someone needs to put a lock on the trade generator. The most amusing part of this whole ludicrous bit was that if you compare the two trades they presented, they feel Foye is worth #5 + Crittendon.

Finally a trade that is a landslide favorite for the Wolves.

That website looks like garbage. Evans has a 7'3" wingspan? Um, it's huge, but that's a 4 inch exageration. Someone's going to end up disappointed. ;-)

Miller is also attractive because of his dreamy hair.

Not that it would ever happen, but who do we have to kill to get this done?

Wash gives: Butler, Crittenton, and #5
Minn gives: Miller, Foye, Pekovic, and 2010 Utah 1st

Maybe they'd prefer the Utah pick? Probably. Then trade #18 and #28 for the #13?

5 - James Harden
6 - Tyreke Evans
13 - Earl Clark

C - Jefferson/Smith
PF - Love/Clark
SF - Butler/Gomes
SG - Harden/Brewer
PG - Evans/Telfair

I could live with that I suppose. :-) We'd need to move Cardinal, Madsen, and Smith for a legit center, though.

This seems a little off to me as well. But dont dismiss it completely. The guy that posted this is from timberwolvespress.com and he did break the love mayo deal before anyone else and does seem to have legit connections.
Also, Washington wants to be under the cap and getting millers expiring would allow for that and also keep them competitive(as long as miller returns to form). And Foye for Crittenton and #5 is off, but when you throw our 18th pick in there, its not too far off imo.

Also, Washington would save a good 2-3 mil, just for the drop in the rookie scale from 5 to 18.

That first trade is absurd. We aren't getting Butler, Crittenton and 5th pick with that! lol.

For Sure!!! And im not saying it will happen, just not ruling it out. Especially with Kahn apparently being so active lately.

If it does happen......

Like I said in another thread last week.. That wasn't an absurd trade.

P.Gasol for M.Gasol/3 firsts/Capspace*

*Critt was traded for a 1st and Kwame was nothing but an expiring contract.

The first that was acquired by trading critt is a first from Washington and it probably wont be very good.

The other two first came in 2008 and 2010. Dante Green was Memphis's choice in 2008 with the first they got from the lakers..... Hes not even on the team anymore and the 2010 pick will probably be horrible considering they are a championship contending team.

M. Gasol only averages 11 Pts and 7 Reb on a team with a bad front line to begin with.

Meanwhile, Pau is averaging 18 PTS and almost 11 REB on a championship team.

Yea, that trade was real close....... Memphis got a failed draft pick in dante green. 2 bad picks in washingtons first and L.A.'s first in 2010. and Marc Gasol who is not producing on a team with an already bad front line.

But at the same time it allowed them to start over because Pau Gasol was hand-cuffing them due to his salary and they weren't good enough to be serious contenders, but too good to win the lottery.

Marc Gasol is not producing? That's news to me.

Also, the pick from the Wizards was the one that Memphis sent to them for JCN.

If Kahn can get Butler for those assets, I owe him a coke.

I disagree on the Gasol trade. Gasol the younger is solid, but those firsts aren't very valuable, and Pau is 2nd banana on a championship team. If Kahn traded Al Jefferson for a package like that, I'd be angry beyond belief.

Worth it to add in Smith/Cardinal for Songaila/Stevenson? That would make it even more attractive to the Wizards, shaving a year off of a couple additional contacts, but for all you cap space junkies, not sure how much that kills the deal for you.

Foye, Miller, Pekovic, Utah Pick, Cardinal, Smith
for
#5, Butler, Crittendon, Stevenson, Songaila

still works...

Not saying that hes not producing..... Just not nearly enough to make the trade worth it. Plus, i believe that hes a good player, but when your on a team with only one other center(Darko) and your averaging just over 30 minutes, you should be producing more than 7 reb and 11 pts. JMHO
